MultiStrike Support is Killing Me

Is there a hidden love connection between my char and multistrike gem ?

Cause every time he is multistriking moltenstrike - any skill i wanna do during that - does nothing...he just multistrikes on and on until he finishes it...

Every time i want to use whirl blades to run from danger...multistrike says - NO ! stay here and die - lemme finish !

Not trying to be a jerk - but is this "feature" something intended - cause...doesnt matter what it is...it is UBER STUPID !

MY CHAR which i control, should give primary priority to what i click on the mouse/keyboard....please fix this.

It's the animation. Animation must complete before new inputs can be accepted - it pretty much how it works for anything (ex: you can't do stuffs mid blink arrow). It's annoying at times and reason why some people prefer avoiding multistrike when quick reaction is the choice over raw damage output. Further increasing attack damage helps to a point it can become barely noticeable.

That's just how it rolls.

It doesn't need to be fixed because it isn't broken. Your character is doing exactly what you told it to: attacking three times in a row.

You are literally complaining because the game gives you enough freedom to make mistakes... how much babysitting do you seriously require from your videogames?

UBER STUPID sounds about right, though.
It is intended. PoE does not have animation canceling so something that repeats will force your character to stay put while casting or attacking.

The gem is a choice between getting that extra damage and having auto-targeting (and mana efficiency, but hardly anyone cares about that anymore) yet being stuck in the animation versus not having the auto-targeting or damage but not being stuck in the animation either.

yes - it is uber stupid ! period ! its 2020 almost - not diablo 1 times !

Yeah it seem logical to not be able to do anything bewten blink arrow...but thats a movement skill...also u cant do anythiing during leap/whirling blades..and more other that are normal and rational to be as so...

During attack skills...u should be able to stop the process...just like u stop the map device from finishing its animation if u pull out the map after pressing activate ;)

Animation breaking is one of the priority issues that could potentially "fix" melee. I hope GGG sees that as well.

Breaking animation or being able to manually dodge is more critical for melee than it is for casters, and casters received instant cast for spells, meaning it should be possible systematically create condition to "move" during attack.

Multistrike feels horrible if you don't have enough attack speed, that's for sure ...

I don't really like this support, but I am currently playing glacial hammer and I kind of have to use it if I want to get anywhere :((
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
ancestral call is just better then multi strike in the majority of cases.
even with molten - ancestral does more damage once you consider the overlap.

if you grab multistrike with very little attack speed, it is a build issue not the gems fault.


is this a joke? it said it in the skill. you use the attack 3 TIME.
so imagine you attack 3 time. The NATURE OF SUPPORT IS THAT YOU CANNOT MOVE AFTER YOU ATTACK 3 TIME.

Not really.

When you really needs dps is against big target .. = bosses, and those come most of the time alone, where ancestral call only reduces your damage.
There are many mechanics for clearing, corpse explosions, splash damage, projectiles, etc ...

Ancestral call is far from being better in the majority of cases, plus multistrike can be used with AOE melee skills, which are ... pretty much the best, apart from MS (which does not clear as well as many/most AOE skills)
