Questions from someone who's looking to buy a PS4 solely for POE
I don't own a PS4, but looking to buy one just for POE. My laptop is retired and I don't want to buy another one for now. Before I make my purchasing decision, I have a few questions that I wish can get help from you guys:
1.Is there any significant difference between the PS4 Pro model and PS4 Slim model when it comes to POE performances? 2.How is the network lag in general? I'm currently in Asia and understand that viewers of this thread may not have the exact idea but just curious in general? 3.Is the SSD a must-have? 4.Also wondering about the trading aspect. I know that the xbox version is mostly SSF, but maybe PS4 has a bigger play pool so trading will be a little bit more active? Get the Pro and an SSD, you can leave as an external drive depending on the capacity. If you're going for a smaller SSD leave it external, if you're going for a 2TB or more in size make an internal one. I say this because the PS OS likes to keep about 100GB minimum on the drive. So if you bought a 256GB one, you just lost 100GB right away.
If GGG makes the PS4 version not so crashy and buggy, the trading scene will stay alive for a good amount of time I guess. But if it's crashy and shit, players will leave quite quickly, why play a buggy game when there are lots of other games to play, that aren't buggy. the SSD is only a must have for PoE... while in general loading times on consoles are long from the mechanical drive, it's ok to live with. The performance on Pro will give you a consistent FPS/resolution experience. |

Is there anyone on PS4 Pro and made it to end-game maps yet? How's the lag and stutter? I heard it's pretty horrific on a base PS4.

I have a PS4 slim without SSD. I am currently in act 2 and have no problems, neither loading times nor playing.

If you are very skilled with a controller (I wouldn't be able to play my build without a mouse) and can go through the looting/trading nuisance (AH has overpriced items from farmers at this moment) I guess you could give it a go on the Pro but there is no telling if the playerbase will be healthy.
A friend has a Pro and I have showed him the basics, I don't know if performance is solid because you need to get to heavy areas for that. I collected a few memory fragments at low level and there were no issues, but the amount of mobs in them was lower than on PC. |

" Trading is quite nice if you can ignore the overpriced items. Here is a couple I've seen: Normal Tabula Rasa with no implicits 1 exalt, Normal 2 link Queen of the forest 1 exalt and 50 chaos for a Normal lifesprig. What i mean with normal is no max rolls. But i guess this will all sort itself out in time. |

Noted, my friend already has 10 chaos at level 41 and quite a bunch of reforging/enhancement items, cards, etc. On a side note, the game crashed twice for him so far in two days and there are a few FPS drops on heavy populated memories when enough visual effects are active.

i was disappointed in the play of poe on my ps4. I was hoping i could assign potion 1 to l1 potion 2 to l2 potion 3 to r1 and potion 4 to r2 however you have to use that stupid direction pad while you are trying to use the thumb sticks around. Also what blows is the fact you cant just equip an off handed wand if it has a gem socketed, you have to remove all socketed gems and than you get an option to equip in off hand.
Do yourself a favor, buy another laptop and avoid the headache. Also the real kicker is there is no $20 first blood start pack :( |

As someone who got to level 90 in SSFHC playing on ps4 fat (first released). After 10 acts, it's nearly impossible to play in maps with shatter or explosion builds... So you should get the pro version. Btw you only got better loads with ssd, there's no performance benefits.
