Nobody likes getting screwed out of their hard work
this is the problem with this league.
its easy enough to touch a thing to open another thing where monsters come out and you can kill them for rewards. add a more complicated "mechanic" by needing to collect fragments of things from rare mobs within these monster portals in order to get a stack to grant access to a boss. this is easy, simple, and satisfying with a sense of something to work towards and potentially good rewards. this league is not this. most of all its a hot mess in the many ways a player can be screwed over by pure "RNG". every single player needs to go through and potentially experience these annoyances, in order, to be able to potentially get a little crumb of reward. 1. try to run a memory fragment and potentially get screwed over in a few different ways ..A) inconsistent decay speeds. ..B) swarmed by mobs. ..C) immediate decay upon activation ..D) terrible tileset with narrow pathways (like delve but the darkness is constantly closing in on you) 2. eventually get a number of memory fragments and want to place them to run through the memory nexus ..A) mod tiles can pop up in your planned path before being able to "set" them ..B) running through to activate multiple tiles uses up charges on previous tiles ..C) decaying tiles can completely fuck your whole run - wasting multiple charges or even an entire plan orchestrated from all previous work through above steps. ....a) inconsistent decay speeds. ....b) swarmed by mobs. ....c) immediate decay upon activation ....d) terrible tileset with narrow pathways (like delve but the darkness is constantly closing in on you) 3. eventually get a number of memory fragments and eventually play and set them through the memory nexus and eventually get to your reward node!! ..A) reward node is a decaying area, meaning you can get completely fucked, ruining your entire farming frags, placing tiles, dealing with all other things from above. ....a) inconsistent decay speeds. ....b) swarmed by mobs. ....c) immediate decay upon activation ....d) terrible tileset with narrow pathways (like delve but the darkness is constantly closing in on you) ..B) you get your reward. 30 silver coins. at least the boss nodes can't decay, but you can still fail the tiles leading to it, causing you to have to go back and farm more frags in order to complete the chain to get to the boss. i've given this league a fair shot, and I WILL continue playing the league, but FUCK this league. i do enjoy the memory fragments. they are quick paced (i do think this is a positive) and an absolute ton of monsters. they are fun. the main drawback to the memory fragments is the tilesets. if you get a mine or underground sea type of tileset your chances of success have DRASTICALLY fallen, purely because of the tileset? this is retarded and should be avoided. the memory nexus however? what an absolute fucking shit show. i cannot stand it. more over, i cannot justify spending so much time collecting fragments to place tiles and active the tiles to try to get a reward and still potentially fail. you failed. ok its ok just go get more fragments. well now previous tiles have decay and you could fail that again. i now really understand why people are bitching so much about clear speed meta specifically for this league. i clear fast with my current build, im quite quick. not streamer zoom zoom boom boom but over 100% movement speed and instantly killing mobs, and yet i fail probably a third of the time - mostly because of going the wrong direction or just getting unlucky on the tileset/layouts. i think i'll just keep collecting pieces, and if i see a boss node pop up i'll wipe my board and use all fresh pieces (no risk of failing from decay) in order to reach the boss, and farm the bosses. this is the only interaction i'll have with this league from here on out, because everything else is just a frustrating fuck fest. " I fail to relate to this part. I'm using divine ire(channeling) and shield charge, so no skipping any decay parts and i fail maybe 1/10 fragments. I think i have like 32% move speed if you consider that relevant.(without flasks obviously) And when i fail it's mostly because of the rapid decay creep which happens but isn't regular enough(for me) to feel bothersome. Decay as far as i have noticed starts from a single direction which makes the correct path obvious(oposing the decay direction) in all tile-sets. I imagine a zoom zoom run build with better movement skills(flame fash/blink arrow/lightning warp/leap slap) for this league to have even more succes then me? Its not really a speed meta issue when you fail the fragments its that many of them have one set path where you get about a minute per beacon, if your not on that set path you get no time at all.
It isn't really related to your movespeed at all it just totally screws you if you pick the wrong direction. As to the nexus they should have let you place pieces without running on them the entire system would be greatly improved, both because you could build up mods on pieces without a constant replacement scheme and it'd stop BS fragments turning up in the middle of your run and gimping it. |

Well back in Breach league, if you gathered the splinters and went into the breachlord's domain... you could also get rekt hence getting "screwed out of your hard work" etc, so this isn't a new thing.
It's just that there's so many annoyances like going the wrong way which means that sometimes you don't have time to get to the right stabilizer, decay starting weirdly sometimes, dodgy layouts etc. The nexus map is pretty convoluted too yeah. |

" I agree with this but i would also add. Make the set of charges the same across the board, this whole 2 charge vs 3 scheme in my opinion is just player convolution harass. Remember that whole league stone mechanic with 2/3/5 charges? This is similar and wrong for all the same reasons. I like the whole concept and its amazing from a league perspective but some things could easily be changed without touching the reward structures etc Which in return would make it also more rewarding because it wouldn't be so convoluted to engage with. Right now it is best to play the league without interacting the the nexus until GGG does a fairly noticeable buff to rewards or mechanics. The incursion styled events are basically 20-30% more map, every map which is pretty nice.
