regarding, choice between armor, hybrid, EV. you forgot one important factor. Socket color.
Going pure EV actually give you more armor, cause of dex bonus and such.

but here something i learn it hard way. as a mara you will prolly need a few / or a LOT of red socket. (the socket color you likely to get on the gear is depend on their require attribute, it possible to get all 4 red socket in pure EV or ES gear, but have fun with that -*-)

I have a lv 71 mara w/ IR.
last week i got glove that give 375 EV and try to use it because of IR.
i was trying to get 2R 1G socket color with correct link -*-.
I end up spending 2 stack of chromatic and not once it give me 2R 1G.

so unless you can afford not having a lot of red socket, don't use pure EV gear --*

Yea, going pure evade is going to be hard, but getting two red one green shouldn't be that hard. You were unlucky. Chromes are fairly cheap anyhow.

I was told that evasion is multiplied twice when u get steel and leather. Once as evasion, and once again after is converted to armor.

I pretty sure Steel and leather node only got multiply once.

this has been changed a long time ago .. now it only counts one time.
