Sulphite consuming question

I can't seem to find the link between digging deeper and the VS consumed for that dig.

Some require 32VS and suddenly only 3 lvls deeper I find myself at 560+ requirement.

Is there a difference between horizontal, vertical delving?
Distance?
Tileset or biome change?
Exploring new fog of war?
Player lvl?
Niko Lvl?

Edit, btw,
According to poe wiki, depth XX has YY sulph consumption which totally is incorrect.
How the hell can a lvl71 dig have a 560 requirement?

Just depth and length. Long delves cost a lot more but drop more items and have more side chests. These scale with depth, but none of the other variables matter afaik.
The requirement increases because by then the game assumes that you will get much more from each sulphite deposit. There's an upper limit though (can't remember which).

From time to time there will be a huge sudden increase. I think last league there was such a gap in depth 80-90?

Also, the sulphite cost in the wiki is from Delve league, thus outdated.
