can we please stop the power creep, already? (or better - reverse it)

And by your logic, having a choice between Hardcore, Standard, Hardcore SSF, Standard SSF, and all of the above with or without League content, is bad design because it's forcing the player to choose to handicap themselves or not.

We're done here.

Go wear a blue Simple Robe or something if you want a challenge.

Sometimes, i accept self-imposed challenges in the game, if they feel interesting. For example, play & complete Wizardry 8 with a single character (it's intended to be played with a party of 6 characters). But it's rather a rare exception.
Usually, if game forces me to inflict self-imposed handicaps (besides "difficulty slider", mean to serve exactly THAT purpose) - something like intentionally dont use strong items or builds - i simply get bored and quit.
For example, when i learned that in Sacred 2 i can make Sepaphim completely invincible to all damage 100% of the time (with certain build), while also having DPS that other characters cant even reach - i was VERY dissapointed... And you know, in PoE there is something quite similar too...

Well...Then maybe you shouldn't be playing PoE.

I ain't even trying to be a dick right now, if people are really THIS bored and not enjoying the game, then it's time to move on. It's not a goddamn marriage, just go. Be free, little sparrow.
lol so youd prefer that people [who want average power level of characters to be lower] leave over actually lowering the power creep huh

just admit it, you like power creep in this game.

its always the same shit with you people.
play ssf
play hc
play ssfhc
dance on one leg when someone beating your head when running BLAMT

wait you already did it ? then leave.

entertaining and idea of slowing down dumb as fuck power creep where your choices basically dont matter until t16 level content ? nooooo

yup, it's poe 2018.

OK...
So how do you want to reasonably use more than one skill at once?

2+ buttons.

...which is why i'm posting on this forum, instead of playing.

which now brings the question - why are YOU posting here, then?

no, it's not. because it is the GAME giving you those choices from the get-go. they are embedded in the game. theres a difference between you having to create those artificial handicaps and deliberately making yourself weaker just to make the game not a boring snoozefest, vs the game imposing those rules and the GAME making you weaker.

and even though those rulesets exist within the game, some of them dont make average player power in each instance of the ruleset any less - they just impose more penalties. hc vs sc is just one giant penalty for dying. you still clear screens of mobs in one click, as opposed to 2013 gameplay

We're done here.
no, we aren't. I can go all day long baby.
it's hilarious how someone cannot understand that average easiness/player power in the game is an issue even if game has easy-normal-hard-extreme modes

I personally want the 'normal' mode be normal and hard be quite hard and extreme next to impossible,

not like normal is for retards, easy is for complete retards, hard is for honorary retards and extreme is barely passable for normal

I want them to justify how anyone will want to play life based pvp characters with chaos pen mods now available .

Well they keep shitting on ES... Honestly i dont see why GGG cares if people have 30k ES, or 12k life, jsut let people have fun, it takes a ton of investment to GET that much ES/life even pre-nerf, so jsut let people have their fun.
We’re watching the game get easier over time, and in a particularly reckless way that tosses most of its original content into the garbage heap. It’s completely reasonable to be frustrated by this, especially as players that signed on and spent money when things were tougher. Asking us to handicap ourselves is just silly.

I think GGG is hoping deep delving and private leagues will make up the difference somehow, but I don’t think these millions-of-dps meta builds now with better crafting will notice those things much.
We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

but what stops me? next league will be even more power creep. so why waste time playing something that is not the strongest version to be?

Because it's ... fun ?
You don't have to play the top build either ( I know, once you've been there once, it's not the same, bla, bla, bla .... ), there are many things that are payable without feeling completely like underpowered slow motion crap archetypes.

Promised what, exactly? Real talk.

What everyone needs to get through their thick skull is that this game passed a point of no return before the 10 acts were even released.

It is literally impossible to "slow" the game down now. It would be the equivalent to going into WoW and making Vanilla end game gear viable somehow in the current game. There is a reason they are releasing a new vanilla WoW, because you cannot go back.

So stop "wishing" for the creep to slow, because it never does. I would be interested to hear of any successful game in any genre that successfully rolled back power creep and gear mudflation.

Your options are: ride the wave, or get off and lay on the beach.

You can't go back.

Pretty much.

They could nerf some crazy bat shit scaling though, like stat stick or some particular combination of items+passives.
I wish they would keep the power creep more contained that what it is atm.
Hopefully there will be enough nerfs in Betrayal.

Regarding self-handicaps .... the game isn't balanced around them, the game is balanced around sky-scraping dps lvl builds.
Shaper with a white bow ? That was poison double dip abuse.
Try to beat Uber Elder with that build now, do it, record it and come brag about it please.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

I repeat, for the hundredth time:
If you do not want OP items in this game, then do not use the OP items. Literally nothing is stopping you from playing with shitty gear and non-meta skills and letting your "thought/skill" overcome everything.

Totally fallacy.

GGG added more and more difficult contents due to more and more power creepy. So why should I be punished by using non-power creepy builds?

You can use power creep to loot uber-elder. But I can only use non-power creep to loot T12. Why should I be punished?
