Atziri's Mirror, what is the point?

When I hear the word 'reflect' I harken back to Final Fantasy and the 'Reflect' spell in those games. You or the enemy casts it on yourself/themselves and whatever magical spell comes at you/them (barring ones that specifically penetrate Reflect) it is sent back at the caster and no harm is inflicted save on the one who casted the spell.

When reading that particular text on the Mirror, I thought it would have that property, which would have made it a very nice shield and allowing you to basically become 'curseproof'. It really does convey that, and hearing that it doesn't...well...glad I won't ever bother getting it if it doesn't do what it honestly should given the text.

Hahah yes! I specifically recalled FFIV and the awesome fight against Bahamut. Woe to a party not protected by Reflect! PoE actually has some Final Fantasy influence; I am curious if they forgot about the Reflect spells from that series, or it they had specific intentions in using the term "reflect" in this new way.

Its not the only text that PoE has wrong.
Reflect = Return whatever to the enemy and suffer no harm oneself.
Resist all = ...All resist...
Increased crit = increased crit chance on everything.

The game is full of bad writing.

Reflect should be renamed to "Thorns".
Resist all should be "Fire/Ice/Lightning resist".
Increased crit should be "increased innate skill/effect crit chance".

I think the devs assume people played Diablo 2 because it has the very same flaws.

It reflects in exactly the same sense as reflected damage. "reflect" is used in the game to specify that you apply (some percentage of) something which happens to you to the entity htat caused it.

Mark, I know its hard to admit that you guys have made mistakes, but come on man..... do some focus groups or something. I am seeing example after example lately of unclear game descriptions that you guys are so stubborn about changing or even acknowledging.

At least half the people who read that description will think what the OP did, just like the countless people who still think armour gives them flat reduction as the tooltip states. In this case it would take no effort on your part to say "Sorry we didn't make that clear, we will update the item tool tip" and then shoot an email to whoever does that...

Make the customer happy, especially when doing so requires NOTHING on your part.

Honestly yes, the term reflect is used incorrect. If an object reflects light fully, it will not allow any of it to pass through. If an object reflects light partially, it will only allow the remaining part to pass through. You guys need to either change the word or the mechanics.
Knowing this, it is a stupid unique. Stupid naming too, just make it actually REFLECT the curse back to the caster and it might actually be useful. At the moment it is DUPLICATING or MIRRORING the curse inflicted on to the caster.
This game is indeed full of miscommunications everywhere, some of it may just be something as simple as its based in NZ, one of the easiest problems to fix would be having someone review and clarify all of the questionable or misconceived descriptions

And for the record after thinking about it, as at first "all elemental resistances" not effecting chaos rather irked me to no end until I took a second and realized chaos damage is not elemental

Well chaos damage now has resist system.
Before that it was binary, 1/0.
CI means 0 chaos damage.
Non-CI means Full chaos damage.

All resist *should* increase Fire/Ice/Lightning/Chaos/Physical resists.
Those mods exist on gear, so therefore it should be included in *all resist*.

Fire/Ice/lightning resist is what is.
Why make it a noob trap?
"This shield got 28% All resist! It must reduces chaos damage as chaos damage has resist system too!"

The game is full of bad writing.

Nothing that a player can get has "resist all". It's always "all elemental resist", and elemental means fire/cold/lightning.

"Increased Critical Strike Chance" is crit on everything. Why wouldn't it be?

Ok you got me on that one :)
It is "all elemental resist".
Still chaos now having resist value makes it a noob trap.

And crit is confusing too.
It would be better to just have a flat crit increase on the nodes as that is more intuitive.
From +45% crit to +2,5% crit.
