Please, remake "Permanently weakened by Kitava's cruel affliction" system
I agree it's an antiquated system, but it seems too rooted in the gameplay to change.
We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

"...it is done intentionally a long time ago. No dissent here. :) Let's explore new playstyles - Play it your own way, not just like the others.

You could also leave the system as it is since it works and it takes not a lot of effort to adapt to the resistance loss.

I genuinely don't see what the issue is here. The curse of Kitava is clear and seen a mile off.
Think, your resistances take a dip after act 5 which is one of the harder acts in the game. Following that is act 6 which, especially after nerfs to the damage of certain act 6 mobs such as kaoms vanguard and their totems, makes their damage relatively ok. I mean it takes several zones to the next miniboss of tukohama which is plenty of time to fix resistances and gear. One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.

can't kitava be just bypassed actually? I mean you get 3 points for killing him (whoever he is - act 4-10 plot makes no sense whatsoever), that is not enough for -30% res
even having difficulties and corresponding penalties made more sense then punishing the player for killing a boss! exemplified bad game design there since I have no hope for significant game design improvements in this game I am officially done with Path of Exile. done for good

" You get 2 points for killing him and he's required to be beaten to enter maps. Check out the "Kitava's Torments" quest in act 5, the Bookstands next to the quest items give you an idea what this guy is all about (hunger yum yum). Also I wouldn't call it bad game design (my opinion) since it presents Kitava as being pretty dangerous by harming you even after his death. ::::::::▄▄▄▀▀▀▄▄███▄::::::::::::::

" First Kitava cannot be bypassed for obvious reasons to plot and gatekeeper to maps. Second -30% resistance is not hard to deal with and certainly not character killing (if you are dying, this suggests a deeper problem with the char instead) Thirdly, difficulties were a thing and Kitava was used to replace them. Having experienced both, the kitava system is much better. Look, when you get these resistance penalties, enemies are at their weakest. Act 6-7 or even more are quite weak and kind to resistance penalties. White maps are significantly easier in comparison to Kitava. These resistance penalties really shouldn't be a problem with decent gear. One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.
