What does the empower do for us? Wouldn't a higher multiplier support be better?

It also increased the melee range of cyclone to 3 (from 2) if the them is 21+. That helps alot with a bigger hitbox.
Personally i bought a 21 gem tho.

So... if we have a Cyclone lvl 21 gem - we don't need Empower at all? What other gem would be good then? I assume Culling Strike, but getting 4G/2R Kingsguard does not sound like a fun experience. Also, I assume you want the 140% mana multiplier for Indigon reasons?

Could we improve on this build somehow by selecting a different red support gem?
What can we do to counter running out of mana? I find myself getting into situations where I can't keep cyclone because its too expensive.

I even have a double clarity watchers eye (mana recovery rate and chance to recovery max mana)
IGN: Ghured

Which situations specifically ? Boss fights like shaper/elder ? Or just running maps ? Also whats your characters name so I can look at your character ?

Culling strike has a lower multiplier than empower though so would that be idea ? Like the guide says you want to be around 60-75 mana cost. I've found Cyclone/empower/faster attacks/increased area effect/fortify/life gain on hit gives me 74 mana cost for cyclone to be the sweet spot. Although make sure you have cold damage to attacks on your ring or jewel slot.

I guess you could get a 21 cyclone gem and replace empower with ice bite (130% mana multiplier vs 125%) which might free up a ring/jewel spot for better mods, but that means you got to get 3 green slots on your chest (ew).

You could also use Vorici syndicate to get 1-3 white sockets.

I did. Now I have a 3G, 2W, 1B 6L chest.
I also tried corrupting the Cyclone and got it to lvl 21 - so I'm all set with switching Empower to Inc. AoE.

But honestly I don't think the build has enough damage output to even try Uber Elder, which is the only difficult content I have left.

I started to waver regarding my opinion of this build when I noticed I failed high tier Incursions.

That said, the survivability is really, really good - and I bought a Watcher's Eye with reflect reduction which allows me to run Ele Reflect maps too.

However, this build also let me remember why I don't like Cyclone and I will vow to never play Cyclone again until they change the mechanics (all those micro movements to change direction for DPS purposes really hurt the wrist after a while).

Well maybe you would like to try classic Mjolner approach with Molten strike and lightning strike - a "hold button to win" build? With my recent changes it has a potential to be unkillable with life+MoM 7k+ ehp combined with insta life recovery (Kingsguard) and insta mana recovery (Mind of the Council + Elementalist) while dishing out 500k+ Shaper DPS. Hi there,

first of all great work and dedication with your builds. As i allways wanted to try a mjölner build and it looks like i would like this playstyle i plan this build to be my choice for next league. Although its not optimal as leaguestarter i will try. That said how would you start a league for this? Whats your leveling progression suggestion gem wise?

I thought about starting as Storm Brand user. I looked into the trees and you just can take the nodes they have in common and decide if you take specific brand nodes (Runebinder, Runesmith Cluster) and respec them later or just try and omit the brand node and go with the full mjölner tree. If you spec the Brand nodes its around 20 points to respec which is a great deal of invest at the start of a league. But when i reach that point (casual 2-3h/day, not every day) i think the cost of items and regret orb will be down.

What are your thoughts? I never leveled as a templar. So go brand or just the standard freeze pulse / fire storm? Is that still a thing? Thanks for your answer

You misunderstand me. I'm not looking for a "hold button to win" build and I do like that you have to reposition and think about your approach to bosses.

The problem (for me) lies mainly in Cyclone. I have played two Cyclone builds previously and I had no idea you got the damage boost both from increasing your speed and from changing direction constantly.

As it turns out, it's putting too much strain on my wrist (I'm an older player) to constantly micro-move my hand for DPS purposes.

This has nothing to do with your build - just the skill.

However, the non-crit approach of your build (and many others) means that some content becomes hard to pull off - such as the Incursions I mentioned.

This is overall a GGG design problem, but still it's a bit off-putting when you fail Incursions due to time.

I'm sure your build can perform better in more capable hands, and I haven't actually tried it on Uber Elder yet. I might do that after I've tried him with another build first.
Well I mean I dont like Cyclone that much myself. I can play with it I have no issues but I just prefer a different approach. This is why I decided to make another Mjolner for Betrayal, ressurecting and old idea of Lightning Strike + Molten Strike (which is especially good with the new sweet cooldown) this time as Witch/Elementalist (best suited class for this imo). I rewriten whole guide on it like 10 min ago with massive video updates on gameplay as well:
