"The Highlander" - 2H Sword Duelist Build (0.10.1)

I ended up dying at Cruel Vaal's 1HKO (long story, short: I got greedy), but this has raised my curiosity on whether there would be a similar move to Whirling Blades available for 2H...?

Leap Slam has quite a bit more delay than Whirling Blades has, which makes it harder to dodge such attacks.

Same with Lightning Warp I guess...

Thanks, I'll do that.
Though I wonder if Flicker will put me close enough to be out of his AoE range...

I managed to scape him without Leap Slam, but it is useful. Flicker works but you need to make sure you target well otherwise you end up flickering him instead lol.

If I recall correctly, with 5 charges up and buffs I was able to survive one of his hits in Cruel though. I remember I didn't die, and I'm almost sure I was able to take one of his hits.
I'm actually debating between this and an ele cleave templar seen here:

I had an ele-cleaver I loved but died at level 45 on HC. What would be the biggest differences between this build and an ele cleaver. Is the highlander more defensive?
just got a nice 2h sword and with my free respec for my duelist i'd like to do this build, would love to see an updated passives tree for the new patch

I didn't confirm it, but it seems like I get more life nodes than this build at late game. I also get one more endurance charge from Kaoms Ring and have lots of life leech and life gain on hit. That's pretty much the benefits in terms of survival. He, however, gets Elemental Adaptation, which I find very useful. In terms of auras we use pretty much the same ones. And although I would play HC with Enfeeble and Warlords for sure, he uses other auras, but that's very adaptable.

I think this build is more def based, but his DPS is pretty awesome (14k cleave?).

No problem. I was playing with a caster templar these days, but I just got myself a Terminus Est so I will rebuild The Highlander, get new passive tree and see how stats are. The increases in Heavy Strike and Cleave damage should have boosted this build well.

Ok guys, going to update main post soon, but already checked the differences with the patch.

My char hadn't been changed since I posted the build (I was playing my templar), so this is a great chance to check the patch effects.

Here's the passive skill:

The damage boost to heavy strike and cleave helped. With the exact same setup I had on main post, I now get 2.5K Heavy Strike (14% boost), 1.3K cleave (18% boost). Also life went from 2055 to 2169 (5%). Lost 2% of base armour because I traded some 10 and 30% armour nodes for the 24% evasion one that ignores movement penalty from armour.

However, I lost 15% to all resistances, not sure why yet. Maybe I missed some elemental resist nodes, but I don't think so. It's like the Diamond Skin keystone stopped workin... Going to check it later.

Biggest improve came from the sword though. I finally got this:

Terminus Est boosted my heavy strike DPS to 3K (that's with only Melee Damage support!) and cleave to nearly 1.6K. Awesome. Going to improve on the resists again and then play to level 70 to enjoy the boosts to melee.

Also looking forward to know the DPS I can get on heavy now, with 3 damage supports instead of one. Probably near 6K, but let's see.

Thank you!

So I've been running this build a bit, around lvl 45. Just wondering your thoughts on using double strike with melee slash instead of cleave.I've been using it and i think its better cause of actual aoe around target hitting more mobs and doing more dmg.just wanting your opinion on this.
