Reddit doesn't understand how bad the Dyadus nerf is
Selfcast ignite just won't work, no matter how much people want it to. Dual-wielding Dyadus could already get you essentially 200% *more* ignite damage with elementalists, and yet virtually no one played ignite. The sum of all of the ignite change so far are barely more than 1 "old Dyadus" in value, even on Elementalist with Fireball. Now that Dyadus is strictly worse than even Doryani's Catalyst, there's no way to get as much ignite damage as was possible in 3.2 while dual-wielding Dyadus.
And yet people still think selfcast ignite will be playable in 3.3 because of all of the forced hype. It's really sad. Last bumped on May 30, 2018, 3:34:07 PM

Huh, as far as i remember it was one of those shit tier unique that people bitched about, and tbh assuming and fixating on that one thing to make ignite "viable" probably means you are doing it wrong.

You still don't understand how bad that nerf is and it's not selfcast.
With burning spectres you could use x2 dyadus on your animate guardian and have it chill for 200% more damage on your burning spectres. That combo did melt bosses in half a second. "In this game you're just a cow being milked, not a human being entertained" - Kiss_Me_Quick

" It used to be! Before 3.2 it wasn't easy to chill bosses so it wasn't worth a slot even when ignite was a double-dipping monstrosity before 3.0. Before 2.6 the mod was "enemies take 40% increased burning damage" rather than 100%, so it was even worse. After 3.0, ignite was in such a shit place that no one seriously cared about it, so even the 100% dyadus was ignored. As of 3.2, it became a 100% mandatory item to make spell-based ignite barely almost playable. Because the mod "Enemies Chilled by you take 100% increased Burning Damage" is a 100% more ignite damage multiplier, way, way better than any other item for ignite as long as you can chill bosses. And guess who could consistently chill bosses as of 3.2? Elementalist. You can do it with literally any cold damage at all. But now, it's just strictly worse than Catalyst. It went from "enemies take" to "you deal". Essentially going from "100% more damage" to "100% increased damage". It was going to be mandatory because without it, ignite is still bad. And so the result is that ignite is still bad. It is literally not possible to scale ignite damage as high in 3.3 as it was in 3.2, singularly because of the dyadus nerf. " Sure, it nerfs high-end builds even harder, but selfcast ignite wasn't even going to be high-end *with* Dyadus! It would be, like, as good as ED with a wither totem. So, "playable". Now it's *not* playable. Again. Still. After GGG spent literally a month overhyping the ignite rework. Last edited by codetaku#0468 on May 30, 2018, 8:39:52 AM

" The weapons made the monsters take ~3x burning damage. It was obviously the best in slot by a huge margin for doing that kind of damage, and losing that is definitely lowering the dps potential of any elementalist ignite build. That being said, you're also right that having this one item make something "viable" is problematic. |

" I don't disagree with you, but the fact is that without this one item, ignite is still not viable. If they wanted to make ignite viable despite the dyadus nerf, their tuning needed to literally be 100% more base ignite damage. Ignite is in an awful place and these numerical value changes absolutely fail to make up for the loss of two dyaduses. |

If you're right then ignite is just not viable. This item should be strictly worse than Doryani's Catalyst imo and an entire mechanic should not revolve around this + elementalist to work.

Again, I don't disagree with what you're saying, but when they spent literally the last month getting many of us super-hyped for finally being able to play a selfcast ignite build again and now they're taking it away from us before we even try it out, it feels like shit.

" It's been super easy to chill bosses for ages. Just not with your hits. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:
