I have a confession to make...

Wonder how long it will take for us to get over all this gender bias. Maybe we never will. Might be that it's hardwired into us.

As soon as biological gender differences go away, I guess.
Nah... I can see social change happening before then. Our new dorms opening in Fall all have bathrooms/showers that are not gender specific. Everyone uses the same facilities and everyone has privacy too. Probably not as efficient, but it's an interesting change. We'll see how that works out.

Different cultures have different gender issues, so it's likely that it's not as hard to get over as having to make biological changes.

I mean. Why wouldn't they? Is there something about PoE that you could pinpoint that would necessarily prohibit or discourage it?

Note that I consider myself anomalous given my general gaming predispositions in the first place, but I am genuinely curious about what other people think female gamers are like, or what the 'stereotypical' things I'm clearly not playing are supposed to be.

...Why yes I AM a big nerd. Thanks for asking!

(Random fact: I met my husband at an arcade. I soundly thrashed him at Super Street Fighter. To this day, he refuses to play fighting games with me. We bond over RPGs and strategy games instead, where he at least has a chance in the latter.)

Edit - and ofc I_NO

Pardon me can this dinosaur count?
I've known a lot of good/decent female players over the years in different games. On a competitive level though - men dominate.

+ I dislike most people in gaming communities, especially girls that want cheap attention from people (hence their names: Kittykatgamergirl21buymestuff), but once in a while you meet one or two that are chill and just wanna play & enjoy their favorite game - those are usually the cooler ones & worth chatting to.

I find most of the other ones very boring on an intellectual level.
+ I feel like PoE HC on higher levels does require a good amount of intellect to be good at it, theorycrafting, mechanics and so on. It's impressive to me regardless if you're a chick or a dude. I find most people on that level quite cool to talk to.

My wife plays the hell out of Mount & Blade Warband and she's pretty good at it. I used to play a lot of Rome:Total War 1, mods especially. A woman named SubRosa made the Amazons mod and she posted extremely detailed screenshot "Lets Play" guides. She is definitely highly skilled, defeated the hardest content in the game using, for instance resource and unit poor factions such as the Sarmations. I learned more about the game through her guides than I'd have learned alone in a lifetime. I think she's moved on to Skyrim modding.
re: Charan -

It's weird, because my SO and I are somewhat the reverse. We're what was termed a 'one-two' punch when we were both more social about gaming. He had better long term planning and more consistentcy, I've always had better reflexes and adaptability. I think our longest stint was when we used to play shooters together (Gears of War, Far Cry, Borderlands), and he'd set up long range support, I'd flank and 'problem solve'. Happened a fair bit in MMOs as well, where he tended to play ranged and I went melee more often. We got banned from being on teams together during some board game nights because we work very well together. That, and our friends can't read Sign as fast as he could so it was easier for us to strategize.

We've kind of drifted a bit in habits as our schedules changed (and my anxiety gets worse), but sometimes we still do things together (currently looking forward to getting time for Far Cry 5 when we can afford it and Stardew Valley multiplayer to see how quickly THAT goes down hill). I just have more free time to play games he's not as interested in. Of course the reverse is also true (as most of his favorite games I don't have much patience for - I have trouble sitting still). Though now I'm thinking it might be fun to crack into another MMO with him.

re: Acaste7 -

Gamer 'grrls' that play up the attention whore angle kind of bother me as well. I made it a habit when I was more into Twitch to drop any that seemed too vapid or clearly doing it more for the attention (and succeeding for all the reasons it works elsewhere), and stuck to ones that were more entertaining or passionate about gaming in general. Still, I classify them the same species as the drunkard 'bro' gamer types that have the same end goal with a different route in that they happen more often then I'd like, but if that's the kind of lowball entertainment people want to go for or be then who'm I to judge. I just don't give them my viewcount.

...though I wouldn't call some of the stuff I do watch exactly high-class, either.
