Egh this is gross, seeing that list. Silencing all free speech because some people got offended by something.

See, the thing is you DON'T have free speech on any digital platform....their rules which you agreed to means they can do whatever.

The problem here is that they are resorting to some other third party who have not clearly defined what they consider "toxic" and if it dose lead to actual bans like some people think it may.
Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

He who controls the pants controls the galaxy. - Rick & Morty S3E1
No need to go to that extend, the only thing this forum lacks is some "ignore dude" function, and it only concerns a few people well identified around... Besides they don't do anything illegal, just we would prefer to not see their posts.

I'm all for the freedom of speech, as much as for the freedom to not have to listen (or read, in that case) :p

Part of this is why I'm glad GGG is so strikingly independent, as long as Chris owns the place anyway. They won't give into this PC garbage. I love how open the general chat is, within reason of their own rules of course. Sad so many AAA people have to cave and pander to some noisy individuals.

Whut. You get muted in global chat for every minor thing nowadays to an extent where I stopped using it. GGG is by far worse than something like League of Legends.

Wow, I note with huge entertainment that CCP is on that list.

Now, I doubt if I am on my own having played EvE on and off for quite a few years, but EvE contains the definition of toxic and griefers...

I mean some of the EvE community pride themselves on being the very worst that humanity has to offer to its fellow man. Now, if CCP signed this strange accord I have no idea how they would go about enforcing it without unravelling the very fabric of the virtual world that they have helped create over the years.

It all sounds like more of a snowflake measure to be honest, to keep the PC snowflakes happy. I very much doubt if anything will come from it. Most communities only thrive because there are two extreme opposing viewpoints. After all, if everyone in here agreed completely with everyone else then there would never be any forums threads after a while. It's entirely the banter that keeps the place going.

there is a study that came to the conclusion that people being able to post anonymously are less toxic than people posting under registered accounts ... does that explain why ggg moved to reddit?

well, they seem to have stopped using reddit now but also stopped posting here. did they all learn chinese(cantonese) and practise that in tencents forums?

edit: ggg staff is at the gdc.

It’s already well begun. I would dare say we are near a tipping point. I’m glad I’m older. But I despair the world I am handing to my son. Look a the UK right now. Look also at people who have already been banned from games for things they have said on their social media away from said games. Publishers are already researching their players in some manner.

Insane.

The best quote I’ve ever read: “humans should not have been allowed to communicate outside punching distance.”

No kidding mate. I'm in my late 40's and the last 20 years has seen complete madness take over this once great country of ours. The other day I watched "Darkest Hour", and a few months back The Queen on netflix. Both made me sad to my core about the national identify and pride that we've all let get swept away by these PC lunatics. Now days if you dare to say I'm proud to be English in England, you are deemed to be a racist...
I wonder what Churchill would make of it all? I can only imagine the expletives...
To be honest, most days I have no clue what we should call this island anymore. Maybe it should be renamed to the Melting Pot of Political Correctness (we are all offended snowflakes) Kingdom?

Anyway, sorry for the rant, I digress from the topic.

He won't care. He's born to live in this generation and will have no problems getting used to it. In fact, by the time he's old enough to form such an opinion, he'll most likely consider his generation better than the one you lived in.

there are times where it's fancy and cool to be public on the internet. and there will be times where it's fancy and cool to not appear in the internet.

since the millenium we've taken big steps into the latter scenario.
