Mutes and Moderation

All the whining going on about it really needs to stop before something more drastic happens

I mean it can ALWAYS be worse and that IS the way it is going for other companies.

There is this thing called the Fair Play Alliance that have the goal of ridding games of toxic people(though it dose not state anywhere how they plan on ridding the games of it, potentially even banning people from games)

Companies already signed up include

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.
CCPGames
Corillian
Disagreement Inc.
Epic Games, Inc.
Flaregames
Huuuge Games
Intel Corporation
Kabam
Kefir
Ker-Chunk Games
Mixer
Owlchemy Labs
Playrix
Radial Games
Riot Games
Roblox Corporation
Rovio Entertainment Corp.
Space Ape Games
Spirit AI, Ltd.
Supercell
Two Hat
Twitch
Unity Technologies

(No GGG yet)

So while you can say prety much anything you like in game don't come crying to hard when you can't moderate yourself and get muted or probation because ultimately if this becomes a big problem for GGG they can sign up to that shit and then you are fucked.

In before "it's the internet, dude! Grow a pair"

Sadly, this debate is too ambitious to be held in here. Too many people wanting/demanding to be dicks, interpreting the freedom of speech and the anonymity of the internet as a right/reason/excuse to be a dick to whomever they want.

'Insert Edmund Burke quote here'
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
"Toxic" they say, while in reality it's just a fascist campaign to silence dissenting opinions.

Anonymity is and always has been the default reasoning for WEAK people to explain why angry or more assertive (*COUGH* men/boys *COUGH*) people speak/act the way they do online, wishing those people would fake it like the people they run into in their suburban towns who kiss each other's ass on a regular just to feel like the world is a better and non-bitter place.

Don't forget they're already trying this shit in Little League sports (*COUGH* men/boys *COUGH*) because some of the kids weren't taught how to make up a quick "I know you are but what am I? / I know your mother is but what am I?" to throw your opponent off his game.

We're sorry your parents didn't teach you to catch, throw, and dodge barbs while continuing to have fun. The rest of us are doing just fine, however.

And on another note : Why is UNITY hopping on-board with this...they don't make or moderate in-game material. They also legally can't ban someone from using their commercial software to create content they don't agree with, so they're clearly there as a political posture.

And Epic needs to cut the shit, what with being the creator of one of the most salty and hardcore FPS arena shooters on the planet...if I can't swear at you I'll spam the in-game "KISS MY ASS/BUM!" / "You fight like Nali" taunts as I squat over your gibbed corpse...MUH TOXIC

In 20 more years they will outlaw speech (free speech is already gone)

In 40 more years they will outlaw thought.
Just because GGG isn't joining in that particular club doesn't mean they aren't fighting this battle... they're just not in the club that says they are.

Problem is... what exactly is "toxic"? To different people from different cultures, that would have many different meanings. The whole point of internet gaming is to encounter people from all over the world and, guess what... some of them are going to meet your definition of toxic.

That's when some hatefull brainfart comes out of someone's mouth.
Life goes by like a fart in the wind.

No nid other peeps to make decision 4 them...

Let ggg make the decision 4 themselves...

Egh this is gross, seeing that list. Silencing all free speech because some people got offended by something.

You're given tools to deal with these people yourself. You right click their name and click ignore. You've never met these people, you never will again, they are irrelevant. Ignore them and move on.

Part of this is why I'm glad GGG is so strikingly independent, as long as Chris owns the place anyway. They won't give into this PC garbage. I love how open the general chat is, within reason of their own rules of course. Sad so many AAA people have to cave and pander to some noisy individuals.
