[3.10] Death's Oath CI Occultist (RETIRED)

"
Is it possible to put ED on 6-link staff instead of death's oath itself and take out the shield, or would it be too squishy of a build?

I hadn't considered staves at all. Thanks.

Main issue I see is that we'd lose a lot of sockets, ES and slots for resists.
We'd need to drop any two of Fortify, Clarity and Vaal Grace. We'd also lose the 4L wither totem, down to a 2L.

The useful staves I can think of are:

Dying Breath:

Pros - No need to change setups for ED. Bit of area, curse effect.
Cons - Similar DO and ED Damage, Lose sockets, ES, resists.

Cane of Unraveling:

Pros - No need to change setups for ED, more ED damage.
Cons - Similar DO Damage, Lose sockets, ES, resists.

The Grey Spire:

Pros - Lot more damage.
Cons - Needs gem swaps for ED, Lose sockets, ES, resists.

Imo only the Grey spire might be worth it, if you can fill out your resists.
You also will lose fortify (and use flame dash), vaal grace and you'd still need to gem swap to ED, but your DO will gain a lot of dmg.

Hey mate,

Looks interesting, but can i ask will it help to use the envy version of the aul's amulet(envy reserved no mana)? It looks like a great damage boost against bosses that resist pretty well on curses.

Thanks

As far as I understand, Envy gives chaos damage to only spells and attacks. Death's Aura isn't a spell, so it will gain no dmg from Envy. It might increase ED damage but I think we already have decent ED dmg and its more important to scale our DO damage.

Looks like we can't go for the new withering presence without dropping profane bloom... any thoughts about the 3.5 changes? Is it just a general buff?
Hey

I think the new Notable Node that give us 60% res helps us to easy get chaos res cap. So do u think we should focus more on a Low Life Build to get the juicy pain Attunement for extra 30% more Spell dmg.?
Can't go LL without Shavs right?

If you wanted to get the new node and have the bloom pops, which is normally a big part of clearspeed for DO (does the new node make up for it? maybe, the changes add a lot of damage) you could drop vile bastion, wear a chayula neck for stun immunity, and use a coruscating elixir. That should work with an overflowing chalice.

I believe the change in damage from the new damage over time multi on the tree and the passive should make up for the damage of the pops. It certainly is very strong for single target and things like red elder.
Currently planning to do this for my league starter in Betrayal.

Want to make use of the new occultist nodes as they add a lot of damage, how feasible is it to drop vile bastion? PoB says we lose ~800ES and a bunch of ES regen, I've not played an occultist before so I'm not sure how much survivability will be sacrificed. Softcore btw.

Has anyone played around with the minion nodes? Potentially a fair amount of added damage here but no obvious nodes to cut and a bit more travelling so doesn't seem worth it?

I also liked the idea of playing around with Vaal Blight but would then have to cut the alleopathy gloves, any alternatives here?

I personally would never drop stun immunity on a CI char.

Also you don't need wither totem specifically any more with the new nodes. I was running a vaal blight in my shield in Incursion and Delve just for the debuff.
I'm working on CI and LL versions for the build. I'm pretty sure we can drop either profane bloom/vile bastion respectively for the new node.

We gain a lot more dmg in either case, just that the build get more expensive, cause stuff like Presense/Grey spire gets added. I'll do some testing and post an update. This will also require a guide rewrite most likely.

Also a question, does anyone know if Fenumus beast crafting will be back in betrayal? It should be, since the menagerie is back right?
