What was your 1st computer?

My dad brought home a ti-99 one day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Instruments_TI-99/4A
Hooked up a cassette player eventually for reading in data so i didnt have to manually program a game every time i wanted to play.
Joined a computer club until i asked to help on a project and they gave me an assignment: convert the speech synthesis into a different format. Got home and it took me about 3 minutes to realize it was just one line of code. They didnt respect my capabilities, or perhaps worse... i shouldnt have respected theirs.
For years i searched for deep truths. A thousand revelations. At the very edge...the ability to think itself dissolves away.Thinking in human language is the problem. Any separation from 'the whole truth' is incomplete. My incomplete concepts may add to your 'whole truth', accept it or think about it
MSX which I bought of a friends brother not knowing there was very little software available in my country but still I managed to spot the odd game,it was like finding Exalts in POE.Anyway I did play a few of the games on it and would also type in basic listings from magazines(actually the pile that came with it)I later learnt to do my own basic code which was more fun.

When I heard there was an MSX 2 I got excited only to find out it was impossible to get till decades later on Ebay.I'd love to be able to go back in time and give my past self an MSX 2.

A game I got most out of on it was Supremacy,I think that is what it was called some sort of strategy game.

Well it was the family computer, not just mine but really it was shared between me and my Dad. It was a Wang computer where the monitor and keyboard were one unit, the screen was classic green text only, no such thing as a mouse, it came with a steel bench to house the processor and two massive 8" floppy drives and it used basic for the interface. I recall we had two games for it, one was a bowling game and the other was a text based Star Trek game.

Just google "Vintage Wang Computer" to see what I mean. Whatever you do, don't forget the word "Computer". You Don't want to see what shows if you accidentally just google for "Vintage Wang"!

Personally though, the first computer I bought for myself was an Intel x486 DX4 100 which was capable of running the most advanced game of the day: Doom! I still recall the game came on 4 3 1/4" disks and you had to write your own batch file to load the sound drivers when you launched the game. Also back in the day when you manually allocated IRQs when setting up your system. Wow, I really don't miss those days!

I dont know how, but I managed to talk my dad into buying me a computer in 1995 when I was 12 years old. All I remember was that the CPU was a Pentium 133 Mhz. I also remember that I had a whole tray of RAM sticks. 8-32MB sticks, some worked, most probably didnt as they were just thrown in there.

Me and my friend usually LAN'd on weekends, using Direct cable connection with Serial Cables and let me assure you, it was painfully slow. If we were to transfer a game from one pc to the other, it took all day or multiple days, even though games were SUPER tiny back then. It was horrible.

Games that I was into back then (that I can remember) was Stunts, Hot Rod 2, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem 3D, Commander Keen, Leisure Suit Larry 1, Heroes of Might and Magic 2, Warcraft 2, Quake 1, GTA 1 and so so many more.

I really miss those days, where we would meet up in the weekends and set up a network and just game all weekend. When Internet finally came around and was available on LAN, LAN was not the same anymore, LAN was dead to me. Most people would be on LAN, but not actually do anything on LAN, but would rather be playing WoW and shit on internet :/

For me it was a commodore 64, I almost bought a vic 20 at the time, so glad I didn't. I got my first taste of rpg by playing bard's tale. This was got me into programming.
