One of the problems with lowering the heartbeat is that other normal computing processes start to interfere.

One example is that a slow secondary hard drive of mine takes over 6 seconds to boot so even with the 6 second heartbeat I have been booted from the game.

I'm sure there are numerous other activities which cause similar hang-time.
