The lost promise of Poe

The way major issues have been dealt with since launch I think the ability for GGG to even survive is slim.I suspect before long the player base will fall back to the 7-8000 base they had during CB.Maybe even lower. If they can survive on that-more power to them. It's a shame they weren't prepared for the launch.

..... You joined the forums on February 22nd, 2013.. Four days later, you feel well equipped to make a post that calls out the developers of the game.. You have a total of 7 posts, almost half of which are crying about the game...

This neatly sums up how seriously we need to take your post.

Indeed, so FAIR and BALANCED. No Bias here!
I'm surprised some people are getting bored already - I see myself playing this for many years to come and let's face it, there really isn't much else on the market in this day and age that will provide us with a better experience than Diablo 2 gave us.

It seems that almost every other game has best and fairest awards, participation awards, no child left behind awards and so forth. I don't see any major studio developing a game like PoE at any time in the future because the profits are probably not there (I'm assuming this, no real idea on the economics of it TBH but probably a fair guess) to sustain huge companies like Blizzard.

GGG are much smaller and what's unprofitable for a company like Blizzard might be hugely profitable for a small studio like GGG. None of us are privy to the financial details of the game but the game has already achieved a high level of success. I hope for Chris and the rest of GGG that it also goes on to become a financial success because they put their money where their mouth is and they are more than deserving of it... and I want to continue playing this game for years to come so it's mutually beneficial.
Well there are a fair amount of game systems in need of a 2nd pass if you ask me, but I don't see the game dying like OP claims.
Path of PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW
A statement like this cant be made in the name of others. If you, on a personal level, think that the game is disapointing and your hopes where higher then what the game can bring at this moment thats fine.

I think this game will be better and polished but it needs time. Although lot of players have things to say about the game and feel the need for improvements, i read also that there is a lot of love for the company and what they created so far. Long story short: i suspect this game will be one of the best titles for years to come.. The opposit of what you think.

Woah OP! News to me. I actually thought PoE was in open beta. Guess I should take stock tips from you. How about some football games to bet on?

FYI for those that actually don't know. Open Beta is still a part of development. The finished product is not presented until the actual launch. Open Beta gives the developers the opportunity to gather feedback to use in polishing up the product.

To be fair, this supposed "launch" was of Open Beta not even the actual Release. Besides, it has been a much better launch than for example Empire: Total War, Elemental: War of Magic, etc and those games were made by established and successful gaming companies, not a new small indy company with very few personnel.

Yes, there are a lot of issues with this game, and I'm 1 of those people very vocal about them around here. However there's a huge gap between that and a loom and gloom attitude towards this game. GGG simply needs to acknowledge many of the issues stated in these forums and fix them, and I'm not just talking about technical issues like desync, account security, etc but also game balance, end game content, etc.
as long as i get to play this until i'm bored i'm ok.

Either this game lives on for a while or they move on to new off-line project. This game is a success no matter how you look at it.

If i can get 500 hrs out of this game then thats good enough for me. I dont get the point of doom and gloom. This game will last long enough for anyone on these boards right now to get significant playtime.

Here's what I think. I think that it's perfectly acceptable to worry about the health of a cherished aunt, but wholly tasteless to tell a whole room full of her relatives that she is dying of cancer, and do it in her own living room.

curious if not entirely valid, rhetorically speaking.

i mean, in this case, the aunt's living room also happens to be one of many venues which she has used to promote just how very, very not-dying-of-cancer she is, over the last several years. and as such, it's full of not just relatives, but curiosity-seekers, and some downright hate-filled misanthropes. also, for many people involved in this discussion, it is the only venue they are aware of in which they can communicate with or about this aunt, especially if they wish these communications to be seen by those others who .. ahem .. care enough about her to do something about it while there is still time.

i could go on...

but the most important point, is, i think if i was this aunt, and there was the chance i was giving myself cancer, and everyone around me could see that but me, i would probably want them to tell me, and nevermind the social graces.
You should let sleeping dogs lie, STG. Really. The timing and nature of the thing I said: this does not want an opposing voice. Think a while on it, I suggest.

You might start by reviewing OP. This OP was out of place, insensitive, thoughtless, and rude.

Chris, Mark, and others at GGG have poured years of their life into this effort. Lets not pee on their shoes in their house, okay?

Okay.
