My guess is that if they do have summons (here's hoping), they will be a type of skill gem, rather than a support gem and therefore will be available to all classes.
I was born with nothing, and I still have most of it left :)

Multishot piercing corpse-missiles with increased radius of effect? =)

Adding complimentary summons to each of the core attributes could really balance out the classes, with ranged backup for might, tanks for intelligence, and whatever dex needs... Pets are always fun.

There currently support gems that increase minion health and damage, just so you know.
I'm also hoping for a lot of summons, I always try to play a necromancer type summoner but in the end the summons always end up worthless. However from what I've heard summons in poe are actually good at the end (and you can get an army which should be fun =) ). I'm hoping they have a variety of undead as well as other types of summons (perhaps animal type things which could work well if the dex/int character is a druid)
