Why I'm done with this game (at least for now)

Because?

If you really need an explanation for "Why do human beings strive and wish to progress, and why do they derive satisfaction from those activities," you may prefer to find a forum where they talk basic philosophy, rather than a video game forum.

Wait... if you don't understand why people want to progress, why are you playing this game in the first place?
To me this game's endgame is in the races and competitive ladders, I believe that is where most of the developmental focus is going right now (class balance, etc). Just give them time and I'm sure things will turn out for the best.

Don't be so defensive, it doesn't contribute to the conversation at all. The REASON he was being short with you both is that your responses were trollish and rather than state your opinions on our questions you referred us to READ the OP and his following post, which we've clearly done.
PM me in forums if you need any help!

I find threads like this fascinating, but really wish there were less personal attacks at other users.

To those who don't like the current system: Please continue to explain how you feel about it. We will read all of the feedback and may be able to adjust the system so it's more comfortable for you.

For those who DO like the current system: Don't worry, the fundamental design of the game is not changing. You don't need to pursuade the other people they are wrong. Just let them give their feedback and trust that we'll make appropriate decisions based on it.

I think the "feedback" threads should be locked, allowing only the dev's/moderators to respond to them. It is such a pain to read through pages of posts that start with "I think this should be done..." and then quickly become nothing but attacks and flames, making actual conversation impossible.

When you truly like the game and someone makes a bad suggestion that would completely ruin it it's hard to stay quiet. Maybe it would help if feedback/suggestion threads came with a poll where you could simply vote "agree/disagree" so you can at least show that not everyone feels the same way.

To be fair Chris while I cant speak for everyone ive been in betas before which were great and seen enough people complain about things then watched as the games core concept is watered down and lost.

The beta is so good right now I guess I and others just dont want you losing sight of why people love this game. Its quite easy for a vocal minority to make itself sound like a majority unless people counterpost to let you know that its not how everyone feels.

I dont think (well I certainly dont) that we dont trust you or dont respect others opinions, but we just want to voice our opinions to the contrary just so you all know how other players feel about whatever is being discussed.

Ok, i'm a guy who's trying to craft his own gear and i'm having very little success. I burned more fusing then i bother to count.

But i still love this system!

Everytime i'm gonna roll an orb, i feel so exicted, i feel like i'm opening a present. Then i get dissapointed. But when i get those 10 fusions i'm excited again.
And i know one day, one fusing, i will get the result i want.

For me it's not about luck. It's about determination. I know if i keep trying, eventualy, someday, i will get results.

And then the feeling you crafted this weapon. It truly is YOUR AXE! Your gear! I love it. It makes me really bond with my char.

I like the current success rate with orbs. Because if everyone was running on pretty sweet gear, suddenly i wouldn't feel so sweet about the stuff i managed to make.

And also, you don't have to use the crafting system. You have to adapt and be wise about the stuff you have. I have learned from experience trading chaoses/gcp for fusngs is stupid because you can end up with nothing.

So i save those orbs, and only uses fusings i find (unless i can get a really sweet deal for buying fusings). So much less stress involved! And also by that, i'm saving alot of orbs which i will trade for same sweet gear. It's a win win.

I also don't like the hypotetical "good roll orbs" thing. Where the excitment in that? "oh i found a gold ring. now i'm gonna roll it for 10% rarity and some ms". It sinda kinda lame to me.

Tbh, i think most of the rage here is based on fusings. What we need is a fusion recipe. Take jewelers for example. You can use 50 of them and still don't get results u need. But you don't go all nerd rage because you know you can get them relativly easy.

So imho fusion success rate should be the same, but with a recipe. And not to hard recipe.

I would really like if i farm for like 3 hours (which is alot of time, lets be honest) i can craft atleast 7-8 fusions FOR SURE. Not beg for someone to sell at reasonable price. Not cross fingers for lucky drops. I would like to know i will get them for the effort i put in farming them!

Cheers and stay awesome GGG

Personally, I find the current system confusing and disappointing. I didn't know there was recipes until someone in game mentioned the thread on the forums. There is no documentation that I came across that explains any of it, unless you want to come to the forums to research. It just is not very intuitive or user friendly IMO.

I've gotten to know how it works and such since, by coming here and elsewhere to research it.

I believe I also am done with the game for now due to this as well. Once I hit 60, the game seems to be farming for various orbs to combine/trade.

Once you grind for god know how long (which I can do, if there is payoff), you are then subject to an RNG for advancement? Once I realized that progress means having several very rare rolls in a row to get a better item, I lost interest.

I'd like to have something to do with whether I am successful crafting or not. Relying on a very very low chance to progress isn't fun to me.

I can see why it might be addictive and fun to some personality types, but not me. I like to have some say in my success. The current system could let you have a six-slot on the first few tries, or never.

Granted, I am not completely familiar as some of you with the system, but frankly, what I've experienced so far I don't care for.

I'd rather they allow some way of improving your chances, rather than play a lottery with hours of grinded materials.

Its fair enough if this type of system doesn't float your boat (so to speak) but honestly its the foundation that ARPGs are built on. Namely "Randomness"...

Its where they differ from other RPG games, such as (for instance) something like Skyrim. Where eventually if you learn the game and what to collect/sell etc you will be able to get exact gear needed for your build. Its also at odds with MMORPG systems which usually have set very rigid items/stats which you can build toward and strive for.

The entire concept behind loot games is that its random. Its what draws many of us to the game, the fact that my gear is highly unlikely to be like anyone elses gear. Even if it has the some sockets/mods that are similar, they are highly unlikely to be the same colours/values.

Many people who prefer this style of game really dont like the MMO model of slow assured advancement. Where as long as you put in X amount of time you will eventually get certain gear.

Im not poo-pooing your points at all, just giving you another perspective. Who knows GGG might decide the MMO crowds are to large to ignore and implement some of these sorts of requests, but I really hope not... sorry

No worries Rod, I appreciate your polite response. While I agree the randomness is a great part of ARPGs, I tend to think of that randomness applied to drops, rewards etc, not when I am trying to craft where it's either "best you could hope for" or trash, without anything considered except a dice roll.

That's why I love these games, I can (and do) play for hours and hours because that next drop may be something awesome! That part I fully agree with you on. I dislike crafting essentially being "roll the dice and hope for two 6s three times in a row". Huge odds that you end up with nothing of use, zero progress.

I like to progress in games, even if only by a little. The crafting system doesn't take anything into account but very very low odds. I just am not compelled to grind enough "dice" for a bunch of hope-i'm-lucky crafting.

As I said, just giving my pov for the devs, Chris sounds like his mind is made up on the system as it stands anyway.
