ChangeLog
3.16 - Build was actually buffed by a decent bit. Dps is slightly better from new tree + masteries, we pull out like 50% spell suppression much higher evasion and some other tidbits including a little bit of block and spell block. Overall build should be even better than before.

3.15 General damage nerfs to gems/flasks like all builds got hit with.

3.14 Vaal ST received a nice buff, doubling the projectiles and some other tweaks. No other major changes.

3.13 No Changes of note

Intro
Elebuzzsaw and spectral throw has always been one of the most fun to play skills in the game. The build feels really engaging and fun to play and is both fast paced and basic enough to have a complete blast with it. Alongside multiple awesome Spectral Throw MTX's this build is simply one of the best on so many different levels.

Pros
Very fun and engaging build to play
Spectral Throw MTX's all look amazing! (Hope to get Lunaris boss from act 8 MTX at some point!!)
Very fast pace build
Incredible movement speed with whirling blades and crazy attack speed
One of the best AOE clears in the game hands down
Amazing Single Target capabilities as well
Pretty defensive with evade/dodge/block and lots of leech
Reflect immune
50% chance to avoid elemental ailments
Free Phasing which looks cool and let's you pass through mobs with ease
Free frenzy charge generation via ascendancy class
Vaal pact + insane damage gives ridiculous amounts of leech
Can do almost all map mods (avoid ele reflect)
Able to do all content (all maps, uber atziri, all labs, shaper and guardians, uber elder, Sirius)
Easy/Cheap to gear with room for lots of improvements as you get more currency

Cons
Ele Reflect maps are NOT possible
Sirius can be killed but with so many phases and having to ramp up your frenzy charges every single time.... it is not the best sirius farming build.
Can be very expensive to fully min/max yourself for end game gear

Tree

*Note* Rest of passive points go into cluster jewels for both outside cluster jewel nodes. Best to look at POB.

Quick Leveling Guide

- Definitely league start capable

- Spectral throw can be used to level the entire way through. 4 Link it when you can with LMP at level 8 (GMP at level 38), added lightning damage, and Elemental damage with attacks (EDWA).

- Use any 1 hand rare weapon with the most flat ele dmg on it. Crit/Attack speed don't matter much at this point though I hate slow weapons personally. Base does not matter at all here either. Claws, Swords, Daggers w/e is fine while EARLY leveling. Once you need leech, you need to have a claw for soul raker passive.

- For armor pieces (helm/chest/boots/gloves etc) just try to get a good amount of res and any life you can.

- Use a mana flask until your mana leech is good enough to sustain your skill. Especially for boss fights in which you will run out of mana quickly. For awhile I do not even use herald of ice, only wrath just to give me more mana. Don't really start using Herald of Ice until I stop using mana flask mostly.

- Use normal leveling uniques if not at start of league: Tabula/Goldrim/-mana cost Jewelry. For Weapons just find rares with ele dmg based on your level. Also Wake of Destruction boots are great for leveling. They give you 1-120 lightning dmg to attacks, 15 movespeed, and life on kill. Absolutely great to level with.

How Point Blank works

As the projectile begins to move from its point of origin, the attack deals up to 50% more damage. As the projectile travels a greater distance, the attack deals up to 50% less damage at the maximum distance of projectiles.

Gear breakdown & Stat Prioritization

Helm
Crown of the Tyrant is the only way to go. With having one blue socket in it we get a whole bunch of added lightning damage, a crapton of life, and nearby enemies have -10 to ALL resistances. This helm is very niche and only drops from AUL so super early in league it can be hard to find but since it is pretty niche luckily it is not super expensive.

Weapon
Claw is 100% mandatory for this build. Can use swords/daggers to early level with, but as soon as you need to leech life/mana and you start picking up claw nodes on tree, claw will be required.

Base: Here you have to make your first decision... The go to claw is Imperial claw as you 100% want a claw with 1.6aps and 6.00% crit. It also gives you the highest life gained on hit. However if you quality it up and get some crazy map mods and gear physical reflect can actually become a problem. So an argument can be had to get a lower base claw. Personally I would suggest still going with imperial DO NOT QUALITY it (as phys dmg does nothing for us) and for the most part you should be fine. But if you do not care about LGOH feel free to get a smaller base.

Next up is simply to spam serrated + metallic fossils on a claw. Your are looking for optimally high lightning dmg + high cold/fire along with aps + crit with crit multi being a bonus. Sometimes you can just craft a last mod on it or you might even removed suffixes if you get 3 really nice prfix and multimod and add attack speed + crit chance. In reality hitting a very good 400-450 edps claw with the new ele mods doing serrated + metallic is pretty damn easy. I was amazed at how many decent ass claws rolled and how often the mods hit. It also helps that serrated fossils overtime have gotten pretty damn cheap. Literally takes like 2-3c per roll. Getting a good 500-550 edps claw is also not very hard. If you can get a fractured t1 fire/cold mod and then use fossils to roll this, you can get some super insane claw for pretty damn cheap.

Shield
Dual wielding does nothing for us. This leaves us only with the option of using a shield. The first and most important mod to look for is 100%+ lightning damage. This mod only rolls on caster shields. Then get a bunch of life + resistances and then craft 5% chance to deal double damage on it. Getting another odd mod that gives like %lightning damage as extra chaos damage or something is also decent.

Chest
Rare Assassin's Garb is the way to go. As nice as explody mod is we really do not need help with clear speed or corpses exploding as we always crit/chill/freeze. The -mana cost mod is HUGE though and along with some mods on jewelry leaves us with 0 mana cost on our ST which is so amazing. Get this along with attacks have 1.5% to crit strike chance and that makes for one juicy ass chest with a bunch of life on it. Feel free to awakener orb your own or just buy one. Rolling t1 attack crit on an assassin's garb with single serrated fossils is pretty easily done. Then just buy a chest with -mana cost as the ONLY mod and awakener orb it onto the assassin's garb with the attack crit (or again you can just buy one if you don't want to take a chance of not getting life or having a rly low roll.)

Gloves
Rare gripped gloves with the projectile damage implicit. Culling strike on these babies would be godly. Ideally with +1 max frenzy charge as well. These are almost near impossible to get without harvest crafting... seeing as harvest crafting is coming back hopefully they will be doable again. So for the best super imba GG rich person gloves.... culling + max frenzy charge + life + attack speed + res + res on gripped gloves base is GODLY. If not a temp life + attack speed + res is what you should start with and then try getting the same thing or close to it with culling strike (or +1 charge) and then go from there.

Boots
Good rare pair of boots is the best option here. Whirling blades is used for 99% of your movespeed. So in actuality movespeed on boots matters very little if at all. Since we do not need any cannot be frozen/chilled stuff as we are immune to elemental ailments thanks to our ascendancy this is the PERFECT build for making some tailwind/elusive boots. Literally almost impossible to fail on these. We don't need move speed or almost anything else. I would get a good two-toned base and awakener orb these babies up. If you do not get life, craft life on them.

Belt
Another Good rare piece is the best bet here. Easy to get remaining resistances and super high life & elemental damage with attacks. Strength on this would be a bonus for your red gems. Crafting % damage on top of it is a nice little bonus. Also pretty easy to roll/craft with some fossils.

Jewelry
Jewelry is to fill out everything you have left over. Max any res's you need (though you get a bunch from jewels). Also you want to be able to craft -10 to mana cost from skills (-9 but with 20 life/mana catalysts it goes to -10). Then get as much dmg as you can. For amulet. Something like 100+ life, -1 mana cost, EDWA, crit + multi is godly. Personally I bought an agate amulet base for the str/int, made sure it was fractured with perfect life roll (was prty cheap) and fossil spammed. Current one I am using on char doesn't even have that much damage, but has a ton of attributes + intel on it along with some crit multi and fire dmg to attacks. W/e you prefer is fine, more damage is obviously best but a lot harder/pricier to get. As for rings OPAL will be the best for damage, but feel free to get vermillion/coral/two-stone if you want to be more defensive. Get any needed res/attributes and then try to get EDWA or flat lightning roll with high life and of course an open prefix to craft -mana cost to skills

Jewels
First grab a watcher's eye. Lightning pen while affected by wrath and then % crit strike chance while affected by wrath. Really not to bad of a price considering how insanely good a watcher's eye like this is. Feel free to get % lightning dmg or crit multi precision as well if you are a super crazy spend few hundred exalts for 3 mod watchers eye type of player.

Next one of my favorite new things added that really take builds to a whole new level..... CLUSTER JEWELS. There is a lot of info I can pour out here to talk about what mods, and what types to go etc etc, but just look at the POB. It is literally 100x easier to see/understand.

Next get all your regular jewels with % max life + crit multi with one handed melee weapons and global crit multi. Then exalty slam or use leo slams and you usually get a whole bunch of resists or attributes. This helps a lot for overcapping your res and getting some much needed int/str. We get 6x normal rare jewels so it adds up quick.

Gems & Links

4L Setup (use for leveling): Spectral Throw - LMP/GMP - Added Lightning Damage - EDWA
5L add Hypothermia
6L add Lightning Pen
*NOTE* Swap in slower projectiles for GMP on single target kills when needed for map bosses, atziri, shaper, guardians, etc.
*NOTE 2* Eventually you will want awakened gems for added lightning/edwa/lightning pen. Lots of extra damage. Even level 1's are better than 20/20's of originals.

1L Setup(Helm): Portal gem
3L Setup: Whirling Blades - Faster Attacks - Fortify
3L Setup: Wrath - Precision - Herald of Ice
4L Setup: Arcanist Brand (level 1) - Sniper's Mark - CWDT (level 1) - Immortal call (level 3)
4L Setup: CWDT (level 20) - Summon Ice Golem - Ancestral Protector (level 13) - Multiple totems

*Note* Keep a Slower Projectiles in your inventory to swap for single target kills or if you want you can socket your wrath in helmet, drop portal gem, and put slower projectiles where wrath was for easier swapping if you want.

Flasks

Vessel of Vinktar is the huge one here. Just a glorious flask all around one that is not used very often anymore. For this build specifically however it is amazing. Flat added lightning damage to ATTACKS is the only choice here really. Lot's of life leech and shocks nearby enemies (which we kind of alrdy shock anyway but it's nice still). We are immune to ailment's meaning we never get shocked ourself. Just amazing.

Bottled Faith of course is next because it is the most amzing flask in game. Super expensive but crazy amounts of dps from the +2 base crit and inc damage enemies take while on consecrated ground along with it being a sulphur flask base.

Cinderswallow with crit chance for even more crit + damage along with free onslaught, increased damage from ignites and recover life.

Atziri's promise is up next. Lots of extra damage & also gives us more leech which is nice. Obviously elemental damage is the roll we care about as all our damage is elemental.

Lastly I use a Catalysed Eternal Life Flask of Staunching. Feel free to roll/use something else if you want as most of times life flask doesn't have much meaning especially if you are already immune to corrupting blood from jewel.

No No Map Mods
- Ele Reflect is by far the worst and can't be done
- Temp Chains as always sucks because being slowed feels awful. So I always reroll usually. However it is not awful with full frenzy charges and such sometimes it isn't felt much at all.

Annointment
Claws of the falcon

Enchants
Gloves - Any you want.
Boots - 1 to 160 added lightning damage if you have NOT killed recently.
Helm - 40% ST Damage is BiS. Deceleration used to be best but since the slower projectile gem nerf your single target ST travels further than before, meaning if we got far enough away to have it decelerate properly we would lose even more damage from point blank now as we would be further from the enemy. For this reason 40% ST damage is best.

*NOTE* Getting enchant on anything now a days is pretty damn hard and as we use a super niche helm, finding the enchant is nearly impossible. There are certain services that you can use to have someone run enchant for you but they are VERY VERY VERY expensive.

Bandit

+2 Passives. Feel free to get alira first and respec later if you want.

Ascendancy Points

Way of the Poacher > Avatar of the Slaughter > Quartz Infusion > Avatar of the Veil

Pantheon

Minor God - Abberath. I Like being immune to burning ground especially when I have no regen from using Vaal pact. Now that shakiri is a bit worse and does not make you full immune to poison that is the one I prefer.

Major God - Soul of Lunaris is my favorite. Avoid projectiles, more dodge, some movespeed/phys dmg reduction, and avoid projectiles that have chained is super nice especially when you have just you and your golem buddy walking down a map and get bazooka'd by archers and instantly blow the eff up.

Feel free to change this as needed or use whatever other Major god you would like.

FAQ
Why does my damage feel low? The most likely answer is probably because of skill gems. The last few levels on the gems add a HUGE amount of damage as well as quality on all the gems. 21/20 gems are even better. For example the increase from level 20 to 21 on added lightning damage and wrath alone is a huge chunk of damage. Other things to look at would be the EDPS/APS/Crit chance on your claw, ST enchant on helm, attack speed on gloves, gripped gloves increased projectile damage, and all the EDWA rolls on your belt + jewelry. All of these things adds up one by one until it becomes a big difference overall.

Why don't I have enough Str/Int? For level 21 wrath you need a whopping 159 intelligence, and for a level 21 Ancestral Protector you need 159 strength. The tree gives you a good bit but you have to be mindful of what you will need on the rest of your jewelry/belt/jewels. Try to get a good base for your amulet that has some str. A good strength roll on a belt would also be great. Cluster jewel small passive nodes add up real quick as well.

I don't like this or that with your build. Do I have to do it? 100% Absolutely Not. This is a build that I tweaked specifically to fit me. Do to you what feels right and looks good for YOU. YOU are the one that has to play it and enjoy it. Trust me when I say if you change your damage by a few hundred or even a few thousand or swap your defenses around it will not make or break the build for the most part. However keep in mind that I will always advise people to do what I have laid out in the build.

Herald of Ice vs Herald of Thunder Personally I use herald of ice as when monsters shatter (which is like always) it does an aoe effect, this aoe effect curses other monsters. Where as herald of thunder only curses monsters that the lightning bolt comes down and strikes. Technically lightning damage will stack slightly better due to lightning penetration and more lightning damage. However the damage difference is not very high and the QOL from ice is through the roof. Also the aesthetic appearance of herald of ice looks way cooler :).

Why do I keep running out of mana? At low levels you WILL run out of mana. Either use -mana jewelry if it is not start of league, or just run a mana flask. Once you get chest + -mana cost on all your jewelry you will have 0 mana cost!

Where do we get leech from? This comes from the claw mastery. Get 1% of attack damage leeched as life + mana.

How are we immune to reflect As of 3.16 Awakened ele dmg with attacks at level 5 makes it so the damage cannot be reflected. This is awesome as it allows us to not worry about ele reflect maps at all!

How do we generate frenzy charges? The frenzy charge generation comes from the first labs ascendancy points "Way of the Poacher".

Is this build SSF/HC Viable? SSF I would say definitely not. It would be very hard to get a lot of the stuff I feel is required. HC I would say its possible, but other builds would be a lot better for HC. This build, while pretty safe if built properly, is far from being super tanky for HC play. The way POE works with random mods rolled on maps and certain types of monsters being deadly can really kill a lot of experienced players let alone newer players.

Why do we not use elemental focus when it gives the best dps increase? While elemental focus gives us a chunk of dps increase it is not worth losing our ability to inflict status ailments. Shock is amazing, chill/shatter/freeze is epic sounding epic looking and saves your ass on things like porcupines. Ignite is also nice as a bit of extra damage and more importantly gives us much more damage on things like cinderswallow.

Hope you all enjoyed the guide and hope it allows many players to enjoy this wonderful game even more. If you have any questions/comments/vouches you are encouraged to post up as long as you have FULLY read the guide. Again you are also encourage to come ask questions on my stream. Happy farming my fellow exiles!

Looks interesting! Gonna keep my eyes on this build :)
This is pretty close to what I have on my PoEplanner tree right now, except I wanted to try to build around Wild Strike and dual Hands of Wisdom and Action. Think it could be viable?

HOWA are wonderful as they are right now. I know GGG said they would hold off on nerfing until they change their poison/double dipping and other changes as well. I do not know for sure what is going to make it into 2.6 and what will hold off till 3.0 but its pretty safe to say that sooner rather than later HOWA will not be as good as they are now. Other than that I can not say, cross your fingers and hope for the patch notes :)
Thanks for posting this.. I wasn't sure what I wanted to run with the new league. Had a few possibilities, but nothing I was in love with.

Wanted something along these lines, liked your requirements for a build.

Glad you like it. Ya I can be very picky when it comes to a truly good build. I just want some of everything :)

Hello,

Very interesting build, thanks for your work.

Just a question, i saw this in the 2.6 manifesto :

"Daggers now have a lower implicit value. This will also apply to already-existing dagger implicits. Previously daggers granted 40%, 60% or 80% increased critical chance. These values have been changed to 30%, 40% and 50%. This is to reduce the impact specific base types had on weapon choices, and lower the power of the standout critical caster weapon base type."

Is there a inpact for your build ? The 10% crit decrease is significant ?

Thanks you,

Ulren

Might be playing this as starter and switch to ES/Int and 2xHOWA later
Thoughts on going CI with Aegis Aurora? added elemental damage with energy shield replenish. with enough accuracy could u ignore the current shield u have?
Requesting you use the URL feature and redo the links to your skill trees.
In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back.
