How are you supposed to progress in maps?

I'm lvl 85 and still stuck in lower tiers. I've had two T7s and a small handful of T6s and that's it. Most of the time I'm spamming T4 or T3, maybe a couple T5.

I can't understand how you're supposed to progress. I tried chiseling, but still nothing dropped and it seemed like just a waste. All the T5+ maps I ran were at least alc-ed. My Atlas is at 30% and can't improve because no new maps will drop.

Any tips?

dont chisel below t12/13
buy some t7-8-9 and run them alched... u shouldnt have a problem anymore.
Do you Zana? You should be able to keep up a supply of at least T8s by doing Zana dalies.

Buying them from Zana seems to be the fastest and most reliable way.
Softcore, solo self-found.

I only started playing a few days ago, so Zana's low level. I bought every t5 and t6 she had, and that's it.

I guess I'll have to trade. Thanks for the replies.
If you are playing solo self found Zana and just RNG is your only way.

If you are not restricting yourself. poe.trade for a few chisels you can buy a considerable amount of maps. It only starts to get expensive once you reach T13ish even then buying maps for 8-20c is worth it. It unlocks more droppable maps and you can sell your excess maps for a large profit.

Alch and go until you break through.

Also, a breadth first search of the atlas(find all of each tier before completing any of them) is probably the best way to get the atlas bonus higher without resorting to buying maps from other players.
I have unlocked all maps up to and including Tier 9 solo and self-found. Zana is absolutely crucial in your progression through Atlas. Prices are way too high compared to trading with other people but I just prefer to do it on my own.

I only bought maps from Zana's when I needed them to unlock them and get bonus. I only run maps 2 tiers below the max tier I had unlocked, e.g. I run tier 6 if I unlocked all tier 8 maps. I wanted to best utilize chances to get +2 maps.

I wonder how it will go past tier 9 where Zana does not offer maps anymore.
I end up with a lot of t1-t5 maps, the 3 for +1 vendor recipe keeps me supplied with T6's and 7's, but so far sustaining a supply of higher tier maps seems to be eluding me too. I had a nice run that got me up to T11's in one corner, then the RNG dried up, and I am back to mostly T6's and 7's with the occasional 8 or 9.

I have never bought from Zana, her prices would wipe me out pretty quickly.

Also, I find if I alch every map it helps with higher IIQ, but my alch currency slowly depletes, so I resort to trans+alt as a cheaper fallback, and keep the alchs for when I need the map bonus, but IIQ maxes at ~30% which doesn't seem to be enough to keep a higher tier map supply going.

I too am finding that a depth-first approach - meaning one corer at a time (which I originally intended) - is not working, it seems you need to do all corners evenly and snag the bonuses as you go further in.
