What is the saddest moment you have ever seen in a animated show or cartoon made for kids?

My vote goes to Big Hero 6. No (additional) spoilers.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

If you're familiar with Isao Takahata's way of story telling (or just Studio Ghibli in general) its worth the watch, even if you haven't seen any of the Studio's films. It follows two characters and how they survive in the final moments of WW2.

good you got me curious about it, I'll give it a try then and watch it tomorrow maybe

For years i searched for deep truths. A thousand revelations. At the very edge...the ability to think itself dissolves away.Thinking in human language is the problem. Any separation from 'the whole truth' is incomplete. My incomplete concepts may add to your 'whole truth', accept it or think about it

I don't think that movie is made for Kids though, otherwise it's probably one of the saddest Animated features IMO

It was made for kids, it's just that in the West we are used to have 99% of kids animated movies being (cheesy) comedies.

Everything that came out from Studio Ghibli around that time (mid-late 80's) was so damn good : Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky,... The 90's were pretty good too (Porco Rosso, Mononoké,...) I'm not saying the new stuff isn't good I just haven't seen anything recent from Studio Ghibli.

Bambi's scene in "Bambi vs Godzilla" was a tearjerker too.

Hmm, still no luck in finding the video for 1978 Bambi's Revenge by Frank Wetzel

As for mainstream animated scenes -The scene with Fiona and the singing bird and what followed was a triple combo kick of sadness when I first saw it in the theater.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56PdNaZEsrU

Spoiler
Happy singing bird, Fiona sings along with bird. Happy bird dies in explosion, leaving only legs behind. Happy bird's now orphaned babies (nest with eggs) behind. Fiona cooks up and eats the babies.

Yeah, my mother couldn't talk about Bambi without tears in her eyes. I've never seen the movie to this day. She wouldn't let me watch it when I was a kid.
Censored.
