Selling physical copy of PoE with offline mode

Why not?
I would be willing to pay much monies for it.
With offline comes modding, which I like but GGG doesnt
GGG made the decision not to make the server binaries public for security reasons.
It would massively expand the surface area for exploits, which would ruin the online (and revenue generating) community at the expense of a one-time offline revenue.
This isn't 1983, the internets are available in most civilized places, why on earth do people want an offline mode?

You also clearly don't realise they will have to rewrite the entire game for offline play, I hope your much monies reach well into the millions :).

Never argue with a zombie, he'll drag you down to his level and eat your brains.

It would allow people to cheat offline.

Cheater could test high end builds and gear.

Cheater would have an unfair advantage over honest players.

Probably won't happen.
I am a complete amateur in computer science but can't they just encrypt all the code?

Well, the code you would need to play offline would be the server (which you would run on your machine along with the client, and have the client talk to the server).

They could encrypt the server binary, but it would need to be unencrypted to run, so that doesn't protect anything.

The worry is that someone could reverse engineer a critical part of the system (such as the RNG) by inspecting the server binary, and then use that knowledge to break the game online.

This is a really good reason why it shouldn't happen.

The ability to make an instant 60,70,80 etc and gear it and skill then test it out would inevitably intrude on the online servers (just as it was possible to insta-test builds in D2's offline mode).

No desyncs...

One could only dream of such pleasure.

Also apparently people completely block out the fact that everyone raged like it was the end of the world that D3 was "online only".

Yet conveniently here... Those same people are like, we don't need offline mode.

Hell at least D3's synching actually works, yet people still bitched about offline mode...

Yet here, with rampant desyncs, the opposite tune is being sung...

Hypocrisy at it's finest...

I would like to play a offline mode without worrying about to be fair between players competition that I can cheat with infinite passive points and ultimate gear to enjoy slaughtering monsters in merciless instead of grinding hundreds hours just for 1 passive point, which is really ridiculous.
