1. Lightning is indeed most likely to follow the path of least resistance(and in this case we actually mean resistance) but that means most likely, if it did that all the time it would only really hit one or two spots ever, dumb luck really.

2. Yes chalk it up as random and move on.

3. You're never coming to visit me and my little dogs, just in case.

4. As a side not lightning does indeed strike twice and is more likely to do so than not, because once your charge the path it's easier to move down. Science fact.
