Getting an eternal was much easier - because of trade. People put eternals in their stash and sold them later. You can't save a unique box encounter for later, so the market for it is much smaller & less flexible.

well thats what I said - didn't I ? you could buy it easier. Im very against buy-able 'challenges' like that. grindy 'challenges' are far better. RNG ones are better too imo.

I do all my 'challenges' by what I find, only trade currencies/items. finishing twinned map challenges without buying a map since june 2013 feels good as hell.

How are lower maps or vaaled maps relevant to map drops from boss? The drop rate is 20%, which means you need to run 1.500 maps to get 300 drops from boss.
you can run a lot of lower level maps solely looking for trials/bosses. doesnt a boss have two map slots ? I believe a well rolled quantity map will make boss more likely to drop the second slot map. maybe Im wrong.

Not sure what you mean.

What I'm 100% sure is that GGG said the boss has a flat 20% chance to drop a map. And that twinned bosses, do not grant a higher chance to drop a map.

You have to do ~1500 maps. Grindy but it's ok, because it's quite determnistic.

Those "challenges" that require you to encounter en extremely rare spawn, aren't "grindy" because the variance is too big. You could play 500 hours and not encounter a Thief ghost or a Perandus Archive. There's nothing challenging there, imo.

he means that the 20% are added to the "normal" droprate of the boss.

so bosses have 20+% (depending on iiq from unique mobs + iiq of the map). i'm not sure if they have 2 drop slots.

@unique strongboxes:
the problem is the layered RNG here again.
they are so rare that most ppl wont even see one during a league. than you need to hit one of 6 special boxes out of 11(?) total (that are not unique map restricted).
