I dislike the way it sounds like they're doing things with voltaxic and CD. I agree they definitely need nerfs, but they make it sound like they're cutting the percentage of conversion, which is not the issue here.


The most prominent issue is the use of poison, and how well elemental skills converted to chaos are allowed to double-dip, not the chaos damage on hits itself. Nerfing the conversion percentage mitigates the poison problem, but it's got some undesirable collateral damage.


What GGG should be doing is:

-Voltaxic Rift gets its line changed to "Your chaos damage can shock, but cannot poison". No change to the 100% conversion, and definitely no change to the 'traditional' feel of Voltaxic. Just a nerf to its use of the mechanic it was never designed to account for, double-dipping poison.



-Consuming Dark still allows chaos damage to 'poison', but transforms poison into something besides damage. For instance, modify a few lines to:

--"Your chaos damage poisons".
--"Your poison deals no damage, but instead recovers your life by x% the damage it would have done"
--"You cannot leech from chaos damage"


There, now you've got a Consuming Dark that can still be allowed to fully convert, but instead turns poison into a sort of life leech substitute, potentially boost-able by picking up damage-over-time/chaos/poison damage mods.


But that's just a concept, it could be something different like poison becoming some kinda status debuff. Point is CD *should* be allowed to fully convert, it just shouldn't be able to use poison for damage, because chaos conversion double-dipping poison is the real issue.

I think they really should introduce a quiver with some lightning-to-chaos (or the more generic elemental -to-chaos) so Voltaxic builds could still get 100% conversion if, and only if, they sacrifice their Drillnecks.

No strong feels on Consuming Dark as long as 100% conversion is still possible (ex: 40% CD 20% IM)
