GhazzyTV - Essence Drain & Contagion (or Bane/Soulrend) Trickster [SC/HC/Uber Elder/Shaper]

Hey! I was looking at path of building and it looks like the build would do a couple thousand extra damage for single target if you swapped slower proj for poison.

Aye single target can be increased, same goes if you use Consuming Dark over a spell damage dagger. But then again the build is designed to speed clear and solves boss kills by using Vaal Lightning Trap.
If you were to change slower proj for poison you'd lower your overall clear speed significantly.

Looks really really good bro! :)
Upgrades could be more life of course on the gear pieces and Skin of the Loyal and/or lioneyes vision but for the low budget state your char seems great :D

@Wendek:

Your belt could have had much more life, though you got pretty good life on the other pieces to balance that out imo. Except your jewelleries.

How was your resistance caps?

To me the only difference that I can spot would be to consider getting the life node "Constitution" earlier if you don't feel comfortable with your life pool.

Let me know about the res cap.

Here's a screenshot from Cruel Highgate :

All elemental resists are capped, Fire's already capped for Merciless actually. I would have needed to upgrade Lightning pretty quickly I guess, likely at the same time as I got a better belt with more life on it.

About the tree : I followed what you said in the video and went for Iron Reflexes + Dirty Techniques. Might have been a mistake for someone inexperienced with the build ? Also you said to "skip Hired Killer until later" which I took to mean "until after Iron Reflexes + DT" but maybe you meant much later than that ? Really though I felt like my problem was damage, <5k DPS felt really really low and of course the longer each fight takes, the more chances I have to die. Is it normal to have such low damage at that point and is there a spike later ? Is it the lack of Ascendency ? I checked the (normal) lab yesterday, in the second room there was a huge cluster of blades + spike traps and I noped the hell out of it, and decided to go for Kaom instead...

@Wendek:

It's always hard to create a build that will cater perfectly to every player.
The general tip from me would be to think like this:

"Do you feel comfortable with your life?"
If yes: Spec dmg
If no: get more life (if its no because fights are taking too long then get more dmg)

"Do you have problems with mana?"
If yes: spec the nodes required to solve that specific issue
If no: Check first question

Generally with the way path of exile works with the tree its all about what type of gear you've managed to get. Let's say you got pretty good defenses like you have, then optiing towards more damage is more favourable whilst with worst gearing it would be more optimal to go for life/defense nodes instead.
It also depends if you're in SC or HC, as in SC you can be much squishier without worrying too much :)

Let me know if it helped you in your tree or if you need me to elaborate anything!

I chose to try try this build as my first character on my SSF account. Currently level 80 and getting into the maps. This build is pretty strong and very smooth to play, so thank you for sharing.

One quality of life change that I made which I didn't see mentioned in the guide is taking Soul Siphon at the shadow start area. For 2 points, you get +5 mana for every kill. And when youre wiping out packs, it keeps ur mana always topped off.

IMO it completely eliminates mana issues and the need for Weave the Arcane.

I just wanted to share in case anyone else was having mana issues early on, like I was.

Cheers!

Hey,

It's my pleasure!
It can absolutely be used as a "fix", so is Thrill Killer and many other options. Generally I always tell people to play their own version of what ever build they chose to follow or do. The mana issue depends on gearing and a few other factors and is as you stated easily fixed with a few points deviating elsewher :)
