Yeah, MOST ARPGs suffer from the same plague - ranged builds tend to be STRONGER (higher clear speed and AoE, higher safety, etc) than melee ones. Diablo2, Torchlight2, Sacred 1-2 and PoE - i mean them all, all share the same fault by allowing ranged builds to have higher range & AoE without drawbacks.

In Titan Quest, bow build is strong - it has high range and decent clear speed. Mage has great AoE, but is very squishy so should play carefully. But they arent OP, melee can have the same clear speed because he has much higher DPS and also can be tanky.

And there are lots of RPGs (not ARPGs) where melee are OP actually, while ranged/mages suck (Neverwinter Nights for example), or where melee and rangeds should group together to help covering each other's weaknesses.

I knew about there game, you right. But if we compare PoE and Titan, we can see how much melee worse in PoE than in TQ.
D3 also got some decent balance (melee not OP, but got something to survive).

But still what stop GGG to make better than TQ, D3, D2, etc? Who and what stop them? They didn't see how bad melee? They pretend everything is fine? Or just lame?

Look at melee and at BladeFall or BladeVortex or Firestorm or Tornado Shot or ANY skill gem it so easy to understand that melee in bad position.

Lol don't needed to check stats on gems, you can open wiki and check how many Red skills and Green or Blue skills, plus add gem restrictions like only Axe, only Mace, only Sword, only Daggers, only Claws etc. That makes melee gems even lesser. While spells, Ranged skills don't have it, it's global.

Blade Vortex is "melee" too, (despite being a spell) - it has ver short range and small AoE.

The number of skills does nothing with their power. And for Wands, skill choice is VERY limited actually, only bows have access to tons of skills (and some of those skills are clearly OP).

Blade Vortex not melee, Aoe much more higher then Cyclone, plus theres lot of AoE node that build pick up and got better synergy and gem setup to crash any melee.

If you think BV melee then Discharge and 70% spells melee.

Just to make it clear RT melee got no support gems to build up multiple different type setup. RT melee got melee physical dmg and that it.

How many spells/ranged support skills and how many non crit melee? Big different.
