Should I play Blade and Soul?

Looks like your main complaint is that it's an Asian MMO :D I get it, it's not for everyone.

No. I have played many different MMOs over the years, even Asian ones. For some time, it was the only genre I played at all. So I can judge a game pretty well at the first few signs. And to me that game is nothing but an attempt to money-milk the horny teens with unnecessary nudity. "Buy this armour to make her look even sexier! It's 2 inches less clothing!" -> how it feels like. And telling from experience, I'm rarely ever wrong.

But that's how pretty much every Asian MMO is. Cheesy and overly sexualized, see Aion, Tera, Archeage, B&S... you name it. It doesn't bother me because it's what I expect. I even played Elin in Tera and didn't give a fuck. It's not like I'll suddenly become a pedo for looking at semi-nude midgets.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
I'm making an effort to stay away from treadmill type of online games that eat up all your time and eventually spit you out when you're either completely frustrated or exhausted. Besides, none of them has the same feel Ultima Online did. Maybe that's something like one's first love for me, but still, today's style of MMORPG just doesn't really do it for me. P2W games are doubly unacceptable, because I'll just end up overspending.

I do keep my WoW account open (at least now that I can pay with gold), because of a few friends and because I like being a feral cat and a bear, but I don't really play it much (basically not at all lately). It's just this friendly pair of old MMORPG slippers that I have been playing for eleven years.

PoE is the only other online, MMO-style treadmill I play. Overall, though, I really want to play more single-player, story-driven, "finishable" games that emphasize experience over grind and repetition. Games that are more less books and less like hamster wheels. At the same time they have a harder time grabbing me, because they are less persistent and less social, but I think that is in part, at least in my case, habituation.
I hear it's more of an action game - less western style in terms of itemization and skills, and more towards the style of a playstation fighter game.

I know some people who love all these games that aren't really about delving into your character and taking time to do things right, but instead prefer pvp games where they can showcase their reaction and fighting skills - they were very much looking forward to it. But i must admit that just watching 1 video turned me off from that game when they tried to recruit me to play it..

Right now downloading elder scrolls online again... 33gb ZZzzz..... But that game is the best mmo i have played since the burning crusade, so it's fine. I don't really take it serious i just like to play it sometimes for some weeks, and while i've spent quite a lot of time there i'm still not even halfway through the quests(it's enormous lol), and i decided i would for some foolhardy reason complete all quests/areas/skillpoints/whatever before joining pvp - which i would normally never ever do but for some reason i like it in eso. It is also very lightweight in terms of PvE setup requirements, like you don't need to be ultra dedicated like wow to enjoy the fullest of the pve content which i really like, almost like the ultimate casual mmo that i can just jump into when i feel like.

As interesting as ALL MMORPG's are, they all are cookie cutters of the template of WoW.

Until something innovative (asides from Oculus, which would still retain some portion of said template) happens, MMO's of this day and age will only get prettier, but not better in terms of mechanics and gameplay.

That aside, to the OP: Nah. You're better off playing something worth your time. The only MMO that's even kept my eye is EVE online.

I like music. Do you like music? Cause I sure as hell like a lot of random music.
From what I understand you don't need to buy the game to start playing so if you've got the bandwidth, computer system and hard drive space you might as well give it a go.

I just have bad associations with it since NCSoft announced the Western release of B&S a month after closing down Paragon Studios.
