Too much AOE in POE?!
this would take dramatic revamping of the entire game.
im not exactly sure GGG had this in mind when they even went into open beta or 1.0 live but as the game has progressed, skills get introduced, supports get introduced, new gear and passives, that is just where we're at. people have become very clever to find out the best combinations in order for their ice nova to hit the entire screen, or discharge even, or the old multistrike/melee splash flicker builds even, to clear out entire screens with one click. i personally think this is a fun aspect of the game. everybody is at least somewhat of an elitist when it comes to video games. thus its fun for us to walk into a room of mobs, flex our pec muscles and the world explodes. different skills and builds give you different effects colours and ways to do this. i don't think this is going to go away at all. the typical trash mob isn't meant to really be a challenge. the only thing that takes two clicks to die is a blood line magic pack maybe or a rare here and there. the way to spice things up i believe is to have more maps and areas dedicated to mechanical gameplay and single target type of setup. we'll always have trash mobs, period. |

The vast majority of players could not care less about aoe clearspeed but would rather stare at their inflated st dps and most builds will utilize both a ST and AOE unless youre tornado shot which covers both for some reason.

it's been extremely bothering me
the game has been on a huge power creep lately (and holy shit ascendancy) the first few big increases to AoE were ok because in desync times not having good aoe meant you were basically shooting blanks, but theres no excuses now to not tone down shit. unfortunately, people already have been spoiled by clearing speed that comes with AoE so of course they gonna cry if you take their toy away, so GGG keeps one-upping the AoE. AoE used to also come with heavy downsides. now we have bladefall which is retarded, and that earthquake skill might take 3 screens with AoE gem+ some nodes. I mean, really ? the game already became so much faster and rapid since 2013, but it's getting out of control to the point where all skills are starting to feel similar in playstyle with few exceptions. |

"solution would to reduce base aoe radius, reduce damage effectiveness of aoe skills (bladefall has 120% damage effectiveness? really?) and increase radius penalty/reduce more multiplier on conc effect Seeing how GGG went into completely opposite direction in 2.1, buffing the base radius of tons of skills (storm call radius is fucking insane) , its safe to say they will not be doing that. |

i have a new idea:
a crafting bench that simulates your character playing a map for you, clearing it instantly and providing you with all of the net currency in return. for real though, everyone is in a rush to be as efficient as possible and essentially just get rich, so AOE/clear speed is logical. |
