[Lore] Why did Kaom kill them?

So,i have a question. Thank to the carvings, the dialogues in act 4 and some divination cards, one can learn what Kaom did after he entered the caverns of Wrath, following the 'vision' he received from the so-called black spirit that is mentioned in the last act 1 carving. It's said that he walked up to highgate and mines, and somehow reached even Malachi, who 'offered' him something in exchange for the lives of his 500 warriors.
Now the question is: why Kaom accepted? I can understand why pretty much any other boss got corrupted by Malachi (Daresso was probably promised his love, Shavronne/Maligaro/Doedre/Piety were raised and made serve Malachi/joined him willingly and Voll was infected by the undeath corruption) but why did Kaom accept Malachi offer? Especially since it's stated that Kaom did all he could to ensure that his warriors were safe in the harrowing journey up to the belly of the beast.
I dont think that it was some kind of offer. Dominus saw God in Malachai, and something similar happened to Kaom. I think he saw one of his God who asked for this sacrifice...one of his cravings in his Stronghold end with "and *Name of the God" was pleased"

Actually I don't think they got corrupted by Malachai, but by the being corrupting Malachai. I feel there is a bit more to this, since this "beast" seemingly was there before Malachai went to it and it somehow lured him there. It also quite odd to have Maligaro corrupted by Malachai, since Maligaro lived before Malachai. Actually Maligaro might have gotten corrupted by the beast before Malachai even arrived there.

They probably called him "Koam".

That does run into the problem that Malachai refers to Maligaro as one of his students in his dedication in the zone before the Black Core, and that if you read the note in Chamber of Sins it was Malachai that gave Maligaro his transmutia device, So they clearly lived in the same time period.

What gets me more is how the hell Daresso got there.
Don't forget what Lady Dialla tells us (corroborated by the Karui lore stone on the Tidal Island) about Kaom mercilessly killing all the Imperials he can find and hanging their heads on his longhouses. The guy was a bigger-than-life maniac who listened to whatever the voices in his head told him, so long as it could be justified according to his own beliefs.

By the way, I also wonder, now, about Greust. Remember, Yeena (the spiritually awakened one) says that, "...[I]n Greust's dream, he is never wrong."

Greust for Act V boss? =0[.]o=
