A guide has been posted here which covers general aspects and strategies of racing.

A summary of Time based events:

Time based events are designed to create a competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their ability to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: Malachai, The Nightmare, located in The Harvest.

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective, will still be counted for receiving reward points except for the level-specific prizes.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

9 Hour Race Time -

Points at Kill:

17 Points for Lv 36 + Kill

Seems fair today.
Because the Dominus 5 Hour Race only was 8 points for some people to less points for 3 hour of racing.

Now it is 17 points ofr 5 hours of racing .

Nice Balance and nice done :) I will do it!
Glad to see that there is at least one Malachai kill race, and it's positioned at a pretty good time as well.

Definitely making time for this one.
It's not 9 hour, it's 7.
I Believe I Can Fly ~~~~
Doing a Malachai kill in a race... I don't know, for casual racers is kinda a stretch. It is more oriented for people that play hardcore/tempest and have done it many times before.
As a Warband player, I admit i don't have the necessary experience in killing Malachai, especially without dying, to do it in a race. I might get to act 4, but I don't feel like taking a shot at Malachai, for the first time without dying, in a race.

But its nice to have these events on the calendar.

BTW, I have noticed the absence of endless ledge events in this season.

A season usually only has one ~ 1 hour 'void' race, this season it is Descent: Champs. EL might be back in future seasons.
I wonder how many ppl will complete the objective.
Sucks I have night shift at that time.

Edit: Nevermind, I've got day off. Time to embarass myself once again.
ProjectPT was right.

Sucks I'm working at the time. I would have enjoyed an easy 17 points, and a decent shot at some random draw prizes as I suppose not too many people will actually get Malachai down. Oh well, I got my Rathpith, so I'm happy. Though I am trying to get a good place on the ladder... Too bad I have to miss out on 17 points. Oh well, can't be avoided.

On another note: I think it's very good to have a race like this in the season, because it requires a fair amount of skill to get to and kill Malachai in a race, even a 7 hour one. However I do think it's a good idea to keep the number of them to only 1. Because it takes a long time, and a lot of even pretty pro players won't really be able to reliably try for top 20 of their class. As they will try to stop and farm before the big bosses, etc. Anyway, definitely a good idea in moderation. I suggest doing about one per season, not more.
I am a shadow. I was born the youngest daughter of a respected family, raised to fight, weep and bleed for God and the Order. I would have died to keep my mouth shut. Professional integrity, it's called. That lord sang a different tune once I had taken their children.
What a nice race event...love it.
Will certainly participate.
Hope i get good rng.
Lotsa fun. :)))))
