Consistent ways to farm currency in standard?
"Some stats I did in February on some runs: - dusk, midnight - dusk, dusk, noon, dusk, dusk, noon, dawn, dusk, skill - dusk, dusk, dusk, dusk, dusk, dusk, dusk, dawn, dawn, skill - dawn, noon, dusk, dusk, dusk, midnight - dusk, dusk, dawn, dusk, dusk, midnight - dusk, noon, noon, dusk, skill - dusk, dusk, dawn, noon, dawn, skill - noon, skill - noon, dawn, dawn, dusk, dawn, noon, noon, dusk, noon, skill - noon, skill - noon, dusk, dusk, skill - dawn, skill - dusk, dusk, dusk, skill - dusk, dawn, dusk, skill - dawn, noon, dusk, dusk, skill Sample is small obviously, but you get the idea. And you get a shit ton of rares on the way, for many alts. Ranger builds list: /917964 When two witches watch two watches, which witch watches which watch? you need an atziri capable character tho. And with decent clear speed too but seems decent to me. Regular atiziri map drops very well and isn't long to clear either.
Alternatively imho the best of the best is to roll properly your maps(not to overcommit on currencies) and keep a high kill count. I except loot filter to dramatically improve farmspeed, for me I'm sure it will. Everytime you overderp on hard mobs, or a very hard for your char master quest, you decrease your gains. Dominus is ok but loots are unreliables too. Spamming maps yelds more currency loots, more xp and builds map pool. Last edited by galuf#4435 on Jul 4, 2015, 7:35:40 AM

The key to any grind is to find complementary objectives so that you don't get bored. Focusing on currency only is going to last you a day or two. Find something that will keep you playing and it will be far more profitable than a more optimal method that you give up on out of boredom.

I've farmed 90ex in the past 3 weeks just by doing solo Dominus runs after work and on the weekends. Do the unid chaos recipe. ID and sell the additional rares he drops, then trade up alterations to exalts directly or via fusings+jewelers from Vorici+Elreon dailies. Set up a shop and sell whatever uniques he drops: I've had unique maps, Icetomb, Reverberation Rod, Alpha's Howl, Rat's Nest, Death's Harp, Lifesprig, Meginord's Vise all sell extremely well, even though people refer to half of those listed as "vendor trash" and supposedly unsellable in Standard.
My setup was a MF dual flame totem character with tabula rasa, stormsail, peregrine, aurseize, perandus blazon, goldwyrm, and some random jewelry with +rarity: these were all self-found over the previous month, but everything listed is extremely cheap to buy (or getting something better than) except the tabula rasa... and you should get a tabula rasa anyway just due to its versatility across characters. I played as a Scion for this, so I got an item rarity gem while leveling. I also used dual curses from the tree for flammability and elemental weakness for more damage. Farming Dominus for a while you should be able to upgrade your MF more by getting an item quantity gem (2ex), 2x well-rolled Andvarius (2-2.5ex per), and a Divination Distillate (2-3ex). You can then link one of your curses to a level 1 Blood Magic gem in order to keep the Divination Distillate active for the full duration. The largest learning curve with farming this boss in particular is learning the tile patterns of the Upper Sceptre floor layouts. After a good number of runs it becomes a lot quicker to rush through as you know shortcuts, where the stairs are located in certain cases, and the individual room layouts. That said, with Act 4 now coming out it'll likely be better to farm one of the bosses there instead. | |
Trust me you net more by running maps. It requires more gear, is more challenging due to variations and rollings. But open maps yeld a far greater income. Due to the fact that mob come packed, the quantity bonus and once in a while the T1-T2 affixes.
A4 will slightly change that indeed, but money making is done in maping, rly. And even more in the xpack with the more linearised drops from map bosses and shit. Last edited by galuf#4435 on Jul 4, 2015, 11:12:45 AM

My method is incredibly tedious and soul crushing but it works
I farm sac sets for a few hours then run Atziri (Sometimes I have to buy a few midnights) I have made more currency in the past two weeks that I have in the past 9months by farming normal Atziri. I sell the hope drops. scepters nearly always go for at least 1ex and good rolled belts can sell for 30c-1ex. I have also found more valuable uniques doing Atziri then I have in my year and a few months of mapping. Of course I may just have some good RNG these past two weeks. You would make much more doing this in the first week of the new league though. |

I farm dominus in splitruns for amulets belts and rings, then farm sacrifice parts for the rest of the recipe, i don't have hopes for any kind of unique item, i just go for some fun, also leveling a new char in the sacrifice maps is more interesting than doing the same maps i've been doing for a long time.

Dominus runs are popular, but VERY inconsistent; the rares you get will usually never be worth a damn, so largely he's just the main method to farm for high-end uniques.
For me, mapping normally nets me upwards of 1ex a day, depending on how many hours I intend to pour into the game. (usually, it's not enough) Of course, part of that is a bit on the generous side, factoring in the total value of all items I've gathered; it usually takes a while longer to convert some of them into currency. By and far one of the most under-rated methods of currency gain is simply selling items to get alts; a rule of thumb is that whenever you portal back to your hideout, your inventory should ALWAYS be full; most rares are not worth keeping, so vendor them for quick alts. It helps as well if you know to recognize when it's 6-mod, and ditch it; the augment isn't worth anywhere near as much. If you still have empty space? Grab some blues that look good: I ALWAYS grab blue jewelry, as space-wise, it averages out to being more valuable than rare 6-space items. (think on it this way: it's an average of 1.5 mods per 1 space, vs. average of 4 per 6 spaces) Blue belts, as a result, are also SLIGHTLY more cost-effective than 2x3 rares. If time/convenience permits, make multiple trips to vendor more stuff. I don't recommend backtracking maps like Gorge, though; in that case, if you know the map has no risk of death, just gather up decent blue items along the way and portal/vendor them. Otherwise, simply only make extra trips at the end to gather up any leftover blues dropped by the boss or nearby mobs. Finally, for trading, fusings are much more in demand than most other currencies outside of exalts, (and more WANTED than chaos, to be honest) so just trade up to get them; using Elreon's and Vorici's deals can also help that a bit further; think of them as 2 and 8 free fusings/day; that's almost a quarter of an exalt right there. A secondary method I've been experimenting with, and have positive results for, is vendoring unique sets: This is a bit harder to set up and maintain, as it not only requires dedicating at least a couple of stash tabs minimum for it, it ALSO requires being able to keep on your mind what you need. The white items are very often easy to come by, (often purchasable from an NPC) and blues can be made with a transmute. (worth next to nothing) The only challenge, then, is a rare; simply grab one when it drops, and then you have 5 chance orbs, worth MORE than a chaos. Vendor them up until you get regrets. At 18:1 for the regrets, that means you need by 28.8 unique sets per EX... And a full day mapping pretty much always nets you several uniques. Use Catarina, and especially Leo (if you have him) to squeeze this ratio even harder. My guides: Summon Homing Missile (SRS) | Act II starter RF | Budget Oro's Flicker Strike
