Is rumi's underrated now ?

one word - Atziri
Rumi's is VERY underrated. This flask is gold. It enables me to build a max block character without taking a single block node on tree xD (I don't think GGG likes that).

This allows me to save a TON of points and grab more damage and life nodes than other builds that need to get block from tree.

Yes it is a bit expensive, and it requires some thinking and skill to use because it is a temporary buff.

But the upside is just fantastic. I carry 2 of these babies, giving me a total of ~20s combined block availability.

One thing I especially like is that it makes me more engaged with my character when I play.

It feels more dynamic - I am much more involved and do a lot more strategizing on how to manage my flasks.

You don't want to always have your flasks up (unless you are on Atziri map where the refill rate is insane), because then you may find you do not have enough for boss. But you also want to be able to survive threats that occur before you even get to the boss.

So I do a lot of thinking on the fly as I play (i.e. identifying the threats, what needs block, what doesn't need block, is the attack damage more dangerous or the spell damage?, is it better to block or rely on my other mitigation and save charges? what is the pack density like on the map - how many mobs per pack and how far apart are packs? how quickly can I refill? should I use block for this box?, how many charges do I need for boss? etc.)

Some people may hate that, but I love it. It makes the interaction with my character feel more alive.

TANGENT:

It gets even better if you do full flask build and grab Witch Alchemist node -> which is what I used to build my Ranger Power Siphon with max blocks. Your flasks become insane and last longer and it is SUPERB for flasks like Taste of Hate, Atziri's Promise, and Rumi's. And now you become more engaged on not only blocking, but managing your freeze (Taste of Hate) and leech (Atziri's).

So now I have to think about whether I can freeze the threats in an effective AOE and save on using Rumi's and Atziri's, or do I use a combination of 2, or all 3? Which flask do I need more for the boss - can I freeze it, does it have phys damage? chaos damage? Can I use block for one phase and leech for another phase of the boss and which is better? I have to manage all this and also account for the different refill rates AND different uptime durations of each flask.

I also use Vaal Grace, so this is another limited resource that I have to manage that is influenced by threats on the map and how I am using Rumi's, Taste of Hate, and Atziri's.

What this results in is limited resources of various defense and offense combinations, so you can create different defensive profiles depending on how you want to approach the threats:

- dodge + block
- block + freeze
- freeze + leech
- dodge + freeze
- dodge + leech
- block + leech
- dodge + block + freeze
- block + freeze + leech
- dodge + block + freeze + leech -> I would only use something like this if I want to tank Dominus ghost spells. I don't use this for Atziri because she has poor flask charge refill so I have to manage what I use for the 3 levels of split-phase.

All this thinking I try to do to help optimize my gameplay as I am playing.

Someone asked if it is rarer than Taste of Hate - no I think Taste of Hate is harder to drop because I remember trying to get both flasks after they were first released into the game and it seems Rumi's flasks was available to buy much sooner in the first few days.

Why should I run Rumi's when I can use somthing like this?

1)This one adds much more armor than Rumi's and recharges much faster.

2)The bonus block chance is unreliable as it is based on probability rather than fixed reduction value.

3)I do not need the spell block as right now it is physical damage in this game that is scarier.

for crit builds, surgeons are no-brainers, sure.

although I would argue that on live, the armour values are currently close to meaningless (just as is rumi's) because you can just perma-IC most of the time

Permanent immortal call? How is that possible? CWDT would not give me that, the casting time for immortal call is too slow to be considered permanent. In fact I would say most of the time you take physical damage while casting. I just prefer granite flask for the instantaneous effect.
I <3 my legacy Rumi's. Nuff said
IGN: Inshiterate
So this is art? Awful lousy way to make coin
The issue with your granite flask is that when you get killed by phys damage, its the kind of phys damage where it doesnt matter whether you have 2,5k armour or 25k armour (if you went ham on armour and have 50k with the flask that should be useful though)

The problem with Rumis is the price. There are so few people using it right now, market is flooded with them, yet they are still 2 Ex for somewhat decent roll.

EDIT: Wish I was on the block bandwagon back before the nerf. Dont have a legacy one and aint gonna buy it anytime soon :D

A rumis an aegis and a few block nodes to cap your attack block, throw in some rainbow strides and a lazhwar to nearly cap your spell block, then use poachers mark to keep your flasks full to spam rumis and it feels like op pre block nerf all over again. that combo is what allowed my mara to facetank the beyond bosses in the ruckus 1M, and on a few occasions it was two beyond demons at once while everyone else is running away or dying. Rumis is awesome and i use it on any character that wears a shield or staff, iron skin granites are great for leveling but once you have some armor on end game gear the 3k from rumis is more than enough.

Well you dont use cwdt. Hard cast enduring cry + spell echo, hard cast immortal call + increased duration, and spec into skill duration nodes on the tree. gives like 16-17 sec phys immunity. *the more you know star wipe*
