" Nope. They're still changing the properties of items that normally couldn't have those properties. The existence of those properties elsewhere doesn't change that. That's the purpose of Vaal Orbs. The whole "science" phenomenon is cringe-worthy. It's like walking up to a slot machine and exclaiming "for science!" as you pull the lever.

I think the Maraketh weapons have quite different implicits from the ones you can get by vaaling an item. You can, as far as I know, also vaal Maraketh weapons (for example when you found a great Maraketh staff but took RT, so you can't use that Crit → Vaal and you might get something useful).
