The Introduction of Maraketh weapons proves that the use of Vaal orb on non-gem items has failed

Ok what would you feel if GGG interoduced the Karui or Ezomyte or whatever weapons/chests, with special sockets. They can get purple sockets which can receive STR+INT gems, yellow gems which can receive STR+DEX gems and blue-green sockets which can receive INT+DEX gems.
Or white sockets

Since It's the vaal orbs job to change sockets colors into superior colors, wouldn't you think that these orbs would have failed at their job?

Nope.

They're still changing the properties of items that normally couldn't have those properties. The existence of those properties elsewhere doesn't change that.

That's the purpose of Vaal Orbs. That, and science OD.

The whole "science" phenomenon is cringe-worthy. It's like walking up to a slot machine and exclaiming "for science!" as you pull the lever.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Oh don't be a party pooper scrotie. Think of it as experimenting in the name of science or something.

In the specific case of closed beta jewels, perhaps. But for everything else, there is no more experimenting to do. We already know all possible outcomes.

Now if you have thousands of Vaal orbs and are trying to estimate the chances of a particular implicit, then that could be for science.

It's mostly a Portal meme.

Also, random destruction is fun (just look at Mythbusters).

And Maraketh weapons are new casino games where you already start with "777".

And then CanHasPants comes and tells you: Slot machines are still giving you results you would not get elsewhere like "543" "765" "135" and sometimes "888"(+1 additional arrow)

CHP: See my point?

Ps. I don't know how slot machines work, i suppose you win when you get three times seven (and hopefully will never ever know.)

I think the Maraketh weapons have quite different implicits from the ones you can get by vaaling an item. You can, as far as I know, also vaal Maraketh weapons (for example when you found a great Maraketh staff but took RT, so you can't use that Crit → Vaal and you might get something useful).
