Full Physical, Split Arrow vs Rain of Arrows

which is better to focus on in your opinion, which is better to build around?

I prefer split, rain is a great spell when you have someone up front to tank the mobs so they don't move and you can drop rain on them a few times, but split is useful then and when you are kiting away from faster moving mobs that would never sit in place long enough for the rain delay.

Need more opinions.

i only use rain of arrows when i'm cornered, just bombard myself with arrows, and keep feeding myself mana. and hope they all die before i do

But, RoA with Concentrated Effect is pretty decent too, but i like split arrow more than RoA :)

I like rain of arrows because it hits a large area and does good damage, I use rain of arrows in conjunction with poison arrows to clear huge waves of mobs because one convenient thing about poison arrow is that inside the cloud anything that hits it will put another dot stack, so i just put my cloud down and then i rain down arrows procing the extra poison which clears large groups extremely quickly. Then again im only lvl 30 :P

I thought about the same thing as a full phys guy.

Around lvl 40 I decided to focus on RoA simply because:

It can hit more enemies(big AoE) than split arrow(5 arrows) unless you couple split arrow with fork/pierce/chain etc which will reduce its damage effectiveness. This is especially important for phys dmg due to the armor mechanics obviously.

I don't think the range you are able to get with split arrow is worth it compared to the better damage with RoA.

Also, I just learned that RoA can't miss.(rofl imba) Try it, lol.

If you want to clear high end content, RoA will be stronger simply because it can carry more double dipping poison supports. Split arrow also requires pierce, which unfortunately is only useful at very high %. Single target is terrible with physical split arrow, you will find yourself wanting to use anything else really.

Althought I'm kinda happy that no one mentions Chain for SA anymore, I can't get how and why that Pierce is obligatory, althought I've been trying it for quite some time.
I must've done as usual and leveled totaly broken ranger to 91 again :(
