Ignorance has not, in nearly every country I have had the pleasure to travel to, been a defence in the face of the law. It is often a cue for leniency to be applied (as in this case, the account was renamed instead of banned), but should never be accepted as an excuse.
This is especially true when ToS are clearly indicated as part of the installation process, forum guidelines etc.
:)
Yeah, but this was a minor mishap on the internet, its not like he murdered someone and used the excuse that he didn't know murder was a crime or something. No reason to take this more seriously than it needs to be.
It hasn't been taken more seriously that it needs to be, the name was changed, not the account banned - which was well within the scope of punitive measures available under the ToS :)
So, it actually looks like we pretty much agree that the outcome was appropriate, we just differ on how we should prevent the breaches occurring.

Use your common sense, if you can't call let's say a police officer in your country a nigger than naming yourself something evolving around this name is obviously a stupid idea.
Feel free to prove me wrong.
He used "[Removed by Support]", not "[Removed by Support]".
dat "moderation"... or should i say censure?

All the officer patients in the ward were forced to censor letters written by all the enlisted-men patients, who were kept in residence in wards of their own. It was a monotonous job, and Yossarian was disappointed to learn that the lives of enlisted men were only slightly more interesting than the lives of officers. After the first day he had no curiosity at all. To break the monotony he invented games. Death to all modifiers, he declared one day, and out of every letter that passed through his hands went every adverb and every adjective. The next day he made war on articles. He reached a much higher plane of creativity the following day when he blacked out everything in the letters but a, an and the. That erected more dynamic intralinear tensions, he felt, and in just about every case left a message far more universal. Soon he was proscribing parts of salutations and signatures and leaving the text untouched. One time he blacked out all but the salutation 'Dear Mary' from a letter, and at the bottom he wrote, 'I yearn for you tragically. R. O. Shipman, Chaplain, U.S. Army.' R.O. Shipman was the group chaplain's name.
When he had exhausted all possibilities in the letters, he began attacking the names and addresses on the envelopes, obliterating whole homes and streets, annihilating entire metropolises with careless flicks of his wrist as though he were God. Catch-22 required that each censored letter bear the censoring officer's name. Most letters he didn't read at all. On those he didn't read at all he wrote his own name. On those he did read he wrote, 'Washington Irving.' When that grew monotonous he wrote, 'Irving Washington.' Censoring the envelopes had serious repercussions, produced a ripple of anxiety on some ethereal military echelon that floated a C.I.D. man back into the ward posing as a patient. They all knew he was a C.I.D. man because he kept inquiring about an officer named Irving or Washington and because after his first day there he wouldn't censor letters. He found them too monotonous.
And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.

I think the same happened to me lol
My character name was "[Removed by Support]", and I suddenly got muted.
I don't really care if they change my name, unlike the OP. I only have 1 request: If you change my name, please keep the word "Caboose" in it.
TY GGG,
Caboose
Edit: Sorry if I offended anyone :C

What about using my name to tell people they may neither analyse my symbols or get around my large frame? {UMayNotParseOrPass)
Filters are annoying :)
Oh, no you didn't. You simply cannot RBS 'niggardly'. *sassy finger snap*
The offensive term you are concerned about comes from the accusative singular masculine & neuter case of the Latin masculine adjective niger, meaning "black" or "dark". Niggardly is an adjective meaning "stingy" or "miserly", likely related to the Old Norse verb nigla = "to fuss about small matters". It is cognate with "niggling", meaning "petty" or "unimportant", as in "the niggling details".
They are etymologically VERY different words, and the context used in NiggardlyDropRates is completely correct, as the drop rates can be quite stingy :)
QQ, whinge whinge, etc.
I guess I'll have to come up with a new name for my next character :)

well don't be too surprised. I got muted once for referring to a certain country in Africa that starts with 'N'.

I've got at least 5 support PM's about my posts. Are they getting niggardly or should I take some vacations at Nigeria?
Either someone is going trigger-happy on that pretty 'report post' button or support isn't paying attention. Methinks it's the first one :\
If you ask a stupid question, expect stupid answers.
If you post a troll thread, expect troll replies.

Well see, now you're using it in the wrong context. If you are recieving a large number of PMs about your posts from support, they are not being niggardly, they are being lavish.

I agree if you meant the name change. Nice to see some fine administrator work. Thank you.
I report these people on an almost daily basis but there are always more.

Hi, I'm a black man and I have a thought on the n-word. Being on the internet you run into white people using it a lot. Especially young white people who don't understand anything about what the world actually means.
That said, it's a losing battle to fight against everyone who uses it inappropriately so you just have to let it slide.
Honestly though, I think that white people CAN use the n-word artfully and in an entertaining way the same as black rappers or black comics can. Unfortunately... the way that it is generally use online lacks all artful sentiment and isn't entertaining and so it comes off as completely out of place and as though that person is simply being "an attention whore".
If my white, Asian, jewish, whatever friends use the n-word. I trust them, so it doesn't bother me one bit. Because they are intelligent, loving people. But if some random guy uses the n-word in his name with a "lol what's the matter" kind of attitude. I will click the report offensive name option in the path of exile chat menu.
Thank you for your time. =)
