The offensive term you are concerned about comes from the accusative singular masculine & neuter case of the Latin masculine adjective niger, meaning "black" or "dark". Niggardly is an adjective meaning "stingy" or "miserly", likely related to the Old Norse verb nigla = "to fuss about small matters". It is cognate with "niggling", meaning "petty" or "unimportant", as in "the niggling details".

They are etymologically VERY different words, and the context used in NiggardlyDropRates is completely correct, as the drop rates can be quite stingy :)
