Melee and Bloodlines

Bloodlines does seem to create challenges to melee more so than to others.

The Frost/Storm/Fire Bearers in a tight pack can kill the careless, and if you're melee you'll be standing on them more often.


Only solution I can think of is to create a "defensive stance" where you cannot use ranged spells or attacks, but take less damage.


The biggest issue with those packs is the slow effect gimping life recovery. The otherwordly mobs are the ones that hit hard. I am not 100% on the mechanic but it seems they phase from strong defense to strong offense.
Having encountered all of them as pure melee with no defense but resists, life and a bit of armor, I'd say:

Frozen Sky - Gimped. Harmless now.
Otherworldly - Highly depending on mob type and magic affix.*
The two "don't die" bloodlines - Highly depending on mob type and magic affix.*
Obelisk - Dangerous.
Summon Invasion boss (?) - Dangerous, because of Invasion boss.
Summon other shit - Pretty harmless.
Rest - Pretty harmless.

*I cannot go near those whipping girls when they have such a bloodline. Other high damage type of monsters, same story.

My cyclone marauder died this morning to a bloodline pack, it was fun. If you can't shrug off a cheap death, don't play hardcore. If you don't enjoy being the underdog, don't play melee. If you opt for both, you knew what you were getting into.
