Many years ago New Zealanders used paua lures to catch fish. There are paua amulets and rings in the game...

If that is ice around the fishing hole, it might require a herald of ice fishing gem. I'm not sold on the idea, but have heard rumours that what the caught fish actually do is add to the maximum charges on a flask. Along the same lines, leveling up Krillson will allow exotic fish to increase the maximum charges on vaal gems.so that you can get an extra use out of them.

" Haha, oh please... Monsta been talking this fishing nonsense for ages (before rods were in game) and for example, Krillson was only added with Forsaken masters. Don't take it seriously, even if someone manages to fish or complete Krillson quest later on. Personally, I was trying to accomplish fishing just to get the quest done and out of curiosity but I never expected to get a fish into my inventory or so. | |

We need more secrets like this, this is what makes a game REALLY fun, secrets that are never announce, or barely hinted at.
