Also have the quest showing I am ready to speak with Clarissa for the reward. Nothing happens when I speak with her. Losing out on Gem.

Yet another that is Lost in Love. *Queue Air Supply*

Clarissa seems to run off after you complete the Master's quest. Well she did for me. Edit: spelling Edit 2: Addendum. The master in question was the weapon master.
