Transparency of item names on floor
Any item that drops on the floor is surrounded in black with the text, I like to play with the item names showing all the time, however it obstructs the view too much when there is a lot of items.
I think it is easily fixed by adjusting the transparency of the black border. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

I'd like to be able to click monsters underneath the item names. I'm being beaten on by a yellow mob with two +40% damage mods and two +30% fire/cold damage boosts, AND lifeleech. I'D REALLY LIKE TO BE ABLE TO HIT HIM :(

I've felt like I can click on monsters under the item names most of the time, but if you have a huge pile of corpses/items it can be a little difficult just because you can't see to click. :)
Along the same lines, I'd like it if there was an option to not be able to pick up items when you click on the name. Is that already in the game and I've missed it? All I've noticed is the "always display item text/don't display it" option. But even when not displayed, I find myself accidentally picking stuff up during a battle. eg, something like your cursor will only pick up a ground item if you shift-l-click on it. |

Turn on "Key Pickup" in the UI options menu, then use Z to show/hide item names.

Isn't the whole point of having the item names up because you're focusing on the items at that point? If you're focusing on monsters, why have the item names showing, given that the entire point of those is to make it easier to see and click on items?
Not trying to be offensive, I just really don't understand why you'd do that. If we made it so you could click to attack monster behind the item names, that removes one of the basic points of the item names, which is that you can click on them to pick up an item. Playing solo its not a problem really since you just kill everything then go pick up whatever you want, but in groups you have to constantly watch for anything that drops that you want to pick up. The current system is basically a slight improvement over D2 which was pretty bad to begin with and a lot more can be done to make it better. |

"If you turn on "Key Pickup" in the options you can only pick them up when the item highlight key is held down. Then you can toggle the item names to always show with 'z', and this provides exactly this behaviour - the item names always show but you can't click on them to pick up the items until you hold the item highlight key. Or at least it did that to me when I just tried it. | |
i can understand for the transparency thing.
& maybe it's a good idea. but i cannot understand your ask about the active "highlight". you ask to have a key to pick-up... but what is the difference with have a key to highlight or not. at least it have the same effect & you push one button. everybody use to do like this since always in this kind of game. "i'm the French Saigneur ! Fight for your life stupid MOBs !"
