Questions about Path of Exile

Game looks pretty sweet, some quick questions.

1. Will it be possible to do the instances solo? Or do you need a party to run them?

2. Will players see only their own loot? Or will item drops be a free for all?

3. Will there be ways to customize/craft your own gear?

I'd like to know how solo friendly this game is as well. Cause I'm really sick of games that force you to group to get anything done.

I think the ideal would be 'scaleable' monster levels, where the difficulty is adjusted based on the number of people in the group (the way Diablo II did it).

That way both solo and group players are happy.
So, I just read the interview you guys did for incgamers: http://www.incgamers.com/Interviews/292/grinding-gear-games-path-of-exile-interview-part-1/1

Customizing your gear/character with the gems sounds pretty sweet. Apparently I'm a baby for wanting to see my own loot...I see how it is. I would like to know if you can solo all content though, especially since I won't be seeing my own loot.

For my question:

What can the team tell us about the technical guts of the game? As in, homegrown Engine written in "X", or is it using an existing engine?

Hey guys. Thanks for your interest.

For your first question Oasisbhrnw, yes, all of the content can be played solo.

As for looting, we tested a lot of different approaches but we found that free for all was the most fun and it also fit well with the theme of the game.

With regard to crafting, we do not have a system for direct construction of items, but we have a large number of somewhat rare consumable items that modify other items in various different ways.

We will be talking more about what these are and what they do in the near future.

To your question getter77, all of our engine technology was written in house using the C++ programming language. Our renderer uses the DirectX graphics API.

Thanks for the prompt reply...and interesting! Any support for 64-bit OS and/or DX11? Multi-monitor setups?

Then again, perhaps there's a technical FAQ section inbound that will answer all in the near future, heh.

I think this is a mistake if it's the only loot option in the game. You might feel it's the most fun, but many others won't. How hard is it to set variable looting options? Having options in your game is the key to appealing to mass audiences.

Can't agree more with this. This was the one thing in Diablo II that annoyed me to no end.
