The more i look into this, the more i think that dps gear needs to be confined to jewelery for casters and gloves+jewlery for melee.

That would mean having more resists, life/mana, and the slot-exclusive mods (movement speed on boots, ias on gloves, etc.) on armor gear (gloves, boots, armor, and helm). It also might preclude more than one unique on a character because they typically have limited mods of these types on them and dont use all 6, nor can mods be added to them.

Thoughts?

ok.. as i continued my work on the end game gear thread, I see what they did about glove cast speed.

Apprently IAS spawns on gloves, and rings.. and cast speed is amulet and rings. So melee and casters still only have 3 slots with speed boosts possible. If gloves were in place for casters they would get an additional slot.

Still doesnt explain why there isnt an orb to improve spell damage on caster weapons. I understand why the existing mechanic works the way it does.. my question is why do we have flawed mechanic that gives spell casters no other recourse to improve what is other ways a perfect wand with modest spell damage boosts equivalent to how quality improves melee dps.

I see that speed used to be on gloves prior to 9.4 btw based on the patch notes. Any reason for this happening?

The question regarding quality is ultimately that there is no player orb other than rerolling to make modest improvements for spell damage but there is for melee damage. Mock all you want, but the question is valid.
