It is in the patch notes, Chris edited it.

Lol, QQ over something trivial as quality changes on your armor? OK

ooooh he adited, after the stelth nerf he edited, exactly what i spect. Its unaceptable, nerfs for rare itens, not for ne rares, but for our already own rares, its a total lack of respect, i lost around 300 base ES its more them 1k overall ES, its a huge nerf, a retroactive nerf

How can you call it a "stealth nerf" when he put it there? And stealth doesnt mean what you people think it means. Stealth is by definition something that is being done in hiding without anyone ever finding out about it or noticing any changes.

Also, get over it, the items are still good and there are other issues the game has now since the expansion.

Well it isn't that trivial. It is considering what Quality should do also extremly stupid. With the new change turning Quality basically into just an increased ES mod it completly changes the way quality is received.

Before Quality was equally valuable for every piece of Armor, now that is different:

Chest A has 100 Base-ES and a +100 ES mod. This means it has 200 ES, and with quality it gets 20% increased ES pushing it to 240 ES.

Chest B has 100 Base-ES and a 100% increased ES mod. This means it also has 200 ES, but with quality it gets 120% increased ES pushing it to 220.

So while both armors are identical in value before applying quality the first one is better after applying it. That is also a huge powershift for certain items.

Just look at some unique items.

The Goddess Bound has up to 300% increased physical damage meaning it will do 12 - 56 damage. Armor like Quality would have boosted this to 14 - 67 damage. But as a weapon it will be 13 - 59. That is 40,5 average instead to 36 average or basically just 10% less damage. The same is obviously true for the next sword in the series.

The exact opposite are weapons like Atziris Disfavour, since it does not have a physical increase it gets a full 20% damage increase from Quality, while both Goddess Swords only get a 5% physical damage increase.

The same is of course true for Armor-Pieces like Lyoneyes Remorse, Vertex or most notably Bringer of Rain which got most of their stats by a huge %modifier instead of a Flat bonus.

So the question is:

Why for the sake of good take the good mechanic that made sense from Armors and apply the bad mechanic from weapons to them. If I have a weapon or armor and apply 20% quality I should have a 20% better weapon or armor and not sometimes one that is 5% better and sometimes one that is 20% better.

So if there is a reason to bring down defenses across the board it shouldn't be done that way. Because that is how quality should work on gear. Otherwise it would just create the situation of having a mechanic that isn't noticably consequent in how it works. Because people will notice that something is now 20% better overall, it will just confuse them if something once makes an item 17% better the next time 11% better because this was what happened to me, when I first got into the quality thing. I noticed how it worked on armor and got really confused what stupid things happened on weapons and it took a fairly long time until I noticed what was wrong.
This is a problem, no doubt about it, and it deserves some serious attention.

quoted for truth
Just bend over and gladly take it as if it's ok! This is what the PoE community seems to love until it's one of their characters or gear. lol Go find another game is what people tell me. Enjoy?
Hah all this time I was wondering where my ES went.

That's some bullshit right there. How can anyone trust items will retain their values now, legacy or not.

Trading one necessity off for another.
