Dexterity: How to rehaul it to become compelling
" I think you underestimate how good high evasion + Ondar's Guile is. If you have enough life/es to survive big hits and AA or block or blind, melee phys attackers are a joke and ranged phys attackers are just free xp dummies. Buffing that won't really be needed and phys spells are still incredibly frustrating. |

A non-passive utility for dexterity would be nice, yes.
Call it focus/balance/entropy/whatever, wrap it around the mana orb like a bizarro energy shield, color it orange and let it work the exact same way as entropy does now i.e. you become more likely to take a hit every time you evade a hit, and once you're hit the entropy resets. Allow it to regen slowly and add some interplay with items and the passive tree and you've got a highly engaging defensive resource to work with. " Haha, that's what I was thinking. No matter how good your explanation of the math is, it doesn't change how boring Dexterity is compared to Intelligence and Strength. We need a real resource to manage and have fun with DEXTERITY: How to rehaul it to be compelling

Well your thought are definitelly worth attention. It's true that dext, comparing to other atributes, does not grant anything cool to your character honestly. I mean the evasion and accuracy is weak AF compared to strength which grants + life and meele dmg, and Intelligence which grants mana and ES.
Good to see that someone else also noticed this problem. You got my support! |

I'm not sure adding a focus mechanic directly is the proper way to go. Then you just alienate str and int with nothing interesting. I don't get why people think Str and Int are so indepth and exciting. It's just a stat increase like dex. At best, you could probably swap the evasion portion of dex for some other stat. Every 10 dex then would give what.... 1 att speed, 1 move speed.
I might be on aboard with a .5 or 1 movement speed boost. Your average tree gives like 300ish of your main stat... so an extra 15-30% movement speed for dex classes seems pretty solid especially since raw movement speed seems to lack compared to movement skills atm. If you wanted to do some super mechanic, then add some keystones around the tree that augment your base stats in someway. |
