Self Cast Ice Spear CI 100% pierce theorycraft

I have been messing around with the tree attempting to figure out the most bang for your buck. Let me know what you all think and if there is something more efficient.

What At using in order of importance IceSpear-LMP/GMP-Added Cold Damage-Pierce-Added Crit Damage-Spell Echo/Faster Casting. If you think think there is a better order let me know.
What I like the most about this build is that is so close to more ES, Crit, Cold damage and freeze chance so if I get to late game and need more of one I could easily pull from one and go to another. Also if you want more damage you can go through the crit in shadow and then left into the projectile damage.

I'm going the opposite direction in tree. I think way I'm gonna try this with double totem setup in the 6l chest. Only way to get enough AOE. Whole battle field will be froze so we can slack on defenses a bit.

87% buff how can we not try it?

Tree looking good. Only thing is that you would prolly be able to save 1 point at 'Piercing Shots' when you'd get a % qual Pierce gem.

I think using a pierce gem/pierce passives is a bad idea for ice spear. Ice spear already pierces at short distance and further away (second form range) the mobs usually are spread so piercing wouldn't be very effective.
Also cold penetration is way better than added cold damage (i would use power charge on crit if you pick up 2 additional charges from the tree).
Imo throatseeker ain't worth the 3 points investment. You get better dps increase when investing it elswhere.
I would go with the following gem setup:
Ice Spear - LMP/GMP - spell echo - incr.crit.dam - power charge on crit/cold penetration.

Plus: Deep Thoughts should be picked. Breath of Rime is worth picking up as the additional freeze duration is taken into account when calculating if the damage passes the freeze threshold (not only will freeze last longer but you will be able to freeze some bosses that you won't be able to freeze without it). Essence surge is also worth picking up imo as it got a decent boost.

Yeah I actually think Zealot's Oath is more worth using now when you can get these absurd amounts of ES lategame (implying the tree will look about the same when 1.2 hits). I have always disliked the fact that you can't regen with CI and Zealot's Oath wasnt really as worth picking up for most builds as it is now.

Will use vitality aswell so will hit about 4,2% regen. With decent endgame items you'll easily get 12-14k ES, putting you at around 5-600 ES/sec, pretty insane..

But I think is so hard to get end game without a good early/mid transition for CI.. ;/

That's my problem hahaha.. I can't see a safe path for progression from ur build :P

I will just play hybrid and pick up all the life nodes on the way (which is quite alot) until I get good enough ES gear to switch to CI. The only unique that will be required to get before switching is Dream Fragment's. Will probably use Rainbowstride's aswell(cause of the decent flat ES/flat mana/and resists) until I can my hand on a good pair of rare ES boots.

I like the facts that you don't need that many uniques to make builds like this to work properly, make you have crazy amounts of ES with all the rare slots :)
