one issue i see with master quests

New league starts. The race is always to get your character leveled and to maps as fast as possible.

It seems to me that a lot of people will simply race to act 3 merciless and then _maybe_ start doing the master quests. After all it remains to be seen whether it's really worth it to do them or not, Obviously GGG is providing incentives to make it worthwhile, but we won't really know until everything gets going whether they succeeded.

so with the information available now, what will be the incentive to stop and do master quests as you are leveling instead of simply waiting until you're running maps ?

I don't think there is any incentitive to do them early. You meat then on your way anyway, so you might not lose time to do quests for them anyway. However you most likely will not care for the full spectrum of abilities they have until endgame anyway.
Less dock runs/less fellshrine runs/less whatever runs.

Edit : forgot to add, crafting benches to help progression.

Better weapon = 2x faster xp sort of speak. Thus they will increase meta diversity on the way to maps. (not at the start of the league since nobody will know what master gives what, but next league's certainly when we can map out what master to go for etc)
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

We just don't know yet I think. Two players reach maps, one slightly before the other. The slower guy has been leveling up the cartographer master so has much greater opportunities to get the map mods he wants (assuming the master can give you specific mods and/or quantity on maps). Which one is really ahead?

The masters as item vendors might be useful to get some cheap leveling gear.

As for the competitive aspect of racing and league start, dunno. I don't see them really of interest there but maybe they also award some neat EXP? We'll have to wait and see, I guess.

Assuming that the quests are actually doable and not OP over level like corrupted areas were at some point. I mean depending on act you meet them, might start easy and spike hard by level 55. Has there been any word on how hard these quests will be? If they are very gamey, like enter instance and "kill this stream of monsters" or something, there is probably a good chance one might need to come back later. Just another gate to skip for some probably, maybe start when you have your fusings lined up.
I consider this one of the things GGG is doing right, just like with the corruption areas. You can run past every single one and then just grind city of sarn for fragments when your character is ready for Atziri or you can just trade for a fragment set. Or you can clear every one, taking your time. Masters will be the same way. Some will just run past until they need them, some will do every quest along the way, some will just but their crafting output from someone else. Whatever makes the most sense for how you want to play.
When I kill a man he stays dead.

Hey , i know this might seem silly.

Me and my friends always gather up for a new league , gets us some energydrinks / snacks , get online on ts and play alot during the first days , trying out the new stuff and have fun.

I might be wrong here , but is fun a valid reason ?
I suspect they'll at least start being useful for a lot of people around level 50ish. So it'll probably be worth having a few levels on them by then. Depending on your specific build, it may be later or even earlier. Also some people will do them just for fun(Yeah, some play games for fun, not just efficiency. Shocking, isn't it?)
