Thousand Teeth Temu Minion Build -- Item Rarity Support Gem?

When I have Necromantic Aegis and a Thousand Teeth Temu with a minion gem linked to an item rarity support gem, would the damage reflected by the minion block trigger the item rarity gem on kill?

I think no, when you link rarity gem with a skill it applies whenever damage dealt by the skill delivers the killing blow. In this case the item is the source of the damage, not the skill, so I assume it doesn't fly even though, to put it graphically, 'a skill is wearing the item' :)

But the minion might also 'absorb' the mod in some unexpected way so it might be best to get an official confirmation on this.
