Questions to GGG Team

Hi !

I'm wondering few things about you and your game.

First of, is which engine are you using to build the game and which software for animation etc...

The second is more about you. How are you doing to pay the bill ? I mean, POE will be totaly free...where the cash come from ? Are you millionaire ? Do you have aid from the gouvernment or whatever ?

That's all for now, have a nice day

Ha ha if only the government used money for POE instead of bailouts that would be sweet, but i don't want to get political then they would bump this thread to the off topic section lol.
Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.
If the game is good, true fans like us will end paying more $ through years than buying an ordinary game.

And probably, some of us would never play if the game wasn't free. This way I think they will recieve more $ in the long term. And also our gratitude for their effort.

i dont know if i agree with that. i am sure they will make money on microtransactions but from how many people. you say people would not play if it is not free? those people probably wont be dropping much money then if they are unwilling to pay a monthly fee. assume they charged 10 bucks a month how many people do you think they would really lose? do you think that enough people will pay over 10 a month to cover the players who spend nothing forever?

point is, if the game is good people would pay monthly and the people who wont probably wont be buying the added stuff anyway, at least not in quantities that really matter.
Not true. If the game came from a big/well-known gaming company or had a lot of hype(advertisement) then they could charge. Otherwise people aren't going to know about it much and even if they do they likely wouldn't pay.

I've played a "free to play" game before that had purchasing. After getting into the game I ended up paying more than I would have if I had just paid $50 up front.

So I think their plan is solid. They just need to make sure that at release there is enough content to keep people involved for a couple months.

i am not talking about them charging 50 for the game. if you play for 6 months and spend only 50 bucks then imo they lost money on you
So then Blizzard has lost a ton of money on me. I played D2 for a good 8 years. And WC3 TFT for another 4 years.

This isn't an MMO, so charging monthly wouldn't work. I really don't see any alternative pricing scheme for them.
those are 2 different games and this has been said to be a mmo so thats why the monthly talk has come up. The more we hear about it the more we realize it’s not a MMO at all however they still need to make money to pay for the servers and staff. Unless you want ads placed all over the game world people will have to shell out money. How many do you think will is the question. 50% of the player base? More? less? What’s considered a good amount for a player to spend on a monthly basis for the company to make enough money to bother with the game? If only half the players ever spend a dime how much does the rest need to spend to make the game profitable?

I have every intention on spending money so long as the game is fun. What I don’t want is to spend 100 or so then the game close cause they didn’t generate enough sales. I don’t see why they cant start for free and then charge a very small 5 per month on top of the micro transactions. I know they wont since they already said it will be free forever but would anyone here really mind paying 5 bucks a month for a free to download game? Assume they give the first 3-4 months free to all to generate interest
The main idea was, the game isn't release yet, so there isn't micro-transations for now. So, how do you do guys to run your new company ?
All people are volunters and will be paid one day ?

i would imagine loans are involved somewhere along the line
